Clone Tech2 purchased-Very pleased

I too bought a clone Tech 2 and it is really a high quality unit. All the labels came in a separate bag.
Remember the actual Tech 2 is the hardware which has been cloned almost perfectly. And for all we know it is identical.
The software is the original from GM, so all the functionality is there.
The connectors are very hard to use the first time and the connector on mine the CANdi module doesn't want to let the ODBII connector latch.
But this is a fantastic deal, it came quickly, no hassles.
I am going to research on how to install the TIS 2000 software on Windows 10 and if I find out how I will post. Right now I have it installed on an Windows XP box. It can control the Tech 2 from the computer, and you can load snapshots to it and pick through them.
Next time I'm at Harbor Freight I am going to buy that case.

Ted, read your post over in Tech. Did you figure out the problem? Wasn't it stalling out when warm? Takes awhile to get used to the Tech II and understanding what you are seeing on screen as I'm learning myself.
I'm running TIS 2000 on a Win 10 laptop thru Oracle VM VirtualBox running Windows 2000. My son set it up since he's the software whiz.

For those of you guys wanting to buy the case at Harbor Freight, I just received a flyer from them today. On the cover is a coupon for 25% off any one item. Find a flyer or coupon. Now is the time!

I have a laptop with XP which works just fine, but I would like to figure out a way to run it on Windows 10 without a VB so others can just install. I don't give up easy. I may fail, but it won't be for lack of trying.
Well I have come to the conclusion that it is the ECM and I have a new one on order from Chuck CoW with a BOOSTER tune.
Just too many weird problems.
Inconsistent codes.
No codes sometimes.
ECM is not reporting change in CMP rpm and no codes ever for a CMP.
Injectors not firing when hot.
Yada yada.

Alright dammit, Harbor Freight is usually filling my inbox with coupons, and the one time I need one they are remiss.

Thanks to the OP for this thread. I have read all posts.
I received my Tech 2, and ordered a refurbished laptop with XP Pro to use with it.
Together with the 2 BOSCH discs, I have 3 discs that came with the dongle I also ordered.
They seem to be the same. Which set of discs did any of you use to load TIS 2000 to the laptop? The BOSCH or the ones that came with the USB dongle?
Thanks!

I didn't get the dongle as I don't plan on reflashing or reprogramming any modules so I got 2 disks, the TIS 2000 and the instruction user manual disk.
I installed the TIS 2000 on my Win10 laptop running Oracle VM VirtualBox running Win 2000 so I didn't need another laptop.

I read about the installation using VM after I had ordered the laptop lol. I might still look into that.
EDIT: Is your Win 10 64-bit? Thanks!

I received my Tech2 scanner today. I think I applied the labels in the right places. I have an old XP laptop that I will install the TIS 2000 software on.
I would love to see more threads on how they actually use this tool, so I can learn more. We have 5 GM vehicles that I can use this on and then many friends too.

to any of the forum members who have purchased this Tech II and would like a pdf file of the GM Users manual, I have it available............
I am unable to upload it here due to file size limitations as the pdf is about 7mb and limit here is 5mb..................
if you want a copy, PM me with your email address and I can email it to you..................
already have sent it this way to one who responded here, and thought I would make the same offer to the rest.......................

PM sent. I think I can shrink the size down to make it so you can upload it for all to have without the email step
