Without question the GS. It looks better, less of them around(4 years vs 9 years of the base model). I have a 13 1LT GS and love the car! i would've kept my C5 if there wasn't a GS C6. The widebody is hands down one of the best looking Vettes ever made.

Carmax buys their inventory at auctions. You can bet since price is reasonable there is an issue. Either it is a 1LT, or paintwork. Good Corvettes DO NOT go cheap at auction.
That said, both cars priced ok GS color is definitely a deduct.

Hmm, that's interesting. Do you have some evidence or figures that support that SSB is less desireable to the point that you should deduct $$ for it? I'm not being sarcastic...totally serious. I had never heard that.

The Criswell GS has non run flat Continental tires. It may make a difference to some. Should/could use that to get the price down.

I've owned both an '08 base and a '12 Grand Sport. Hands down the Grand Sport. Opt for the 2012-2013 if possible, the seat upgrade is a world of difference over the 2011 and older.
Regarding the tires- I just replaced my factory Goodyear Run-Flat tires with non run-flat Michelin Pilot Super Sports from Discount Tire. They were $1,356.50, installed. They sent me a $100 Visa gift card for a 3-day weekend promotion, making the net total $1,256.50. The ride difference is sooooo much better. It may be slightly less if you go for the 325 rears, I opted for the 345 rears.

Best color is in the eye of the beholder. To each their own. But over the years I have noticed that great cars look good in any color. The C6 is one of those cars. There are some other cars out there that I would consider looking good in only certain colors and look like total **** in the wrong color. Some MB and BMW's fall into that category along with many other cars. Certain cars need certain colors to hide some of their ugliness while a truly good looking car can pull off any color.

I have a couple of things to add. I'm looking at a '13 GS 2LT coupe with 7,500 miles. It has the paddle shift, dual mode exhaust, transparent top, chrome wheels, velocity yellow with yellow calipers and more. It looks like it's never been sat in. It's at a dealer for $42,800. I'm very close to pulling the trigger. The car is like new at $25,000 less than the original sticker. I've shopped for months and everything for less money shows it's age and use. Check KBB. As far as Carmax goes, I bought my wife's '02 Trans Am WS6 at Carmax. They do not negotiate on either the selling price or trade-in value. But they do stand by their cars. They will fix absolutely anything for the first 30 days. After that if there's any remaining original warranty that's all you have.
Good luck. I'd go for the GS.

Thanks all,
Sorry for the delayed update. I did indeed go with the GS and could not be happier. It runs and drives perfectly and has minimal wear and tear for a 2012. Basically looks brand new. As far as the color, I love it and I've gotten nothing but compliments on it. It's amazing how dark or light this color looks depending on the angle/time of day. This was actually the color I was looking for. Anyway, I just wanted to thank everyone for the input. I'm extremely happy with my decision. While I would generally prefer to do business with Carmax, their prices on the GS models were just too high. As soon as I can figure out how to, I will post a couple of pictures.

Congrats on the sweet ride. Looks good, but that color definitely looks even better in person. Enjoy!
