Why does everyone want to race

Why does everyone want to race
I enjoy having a vette BUT i do not enjoy every dumbass wanting to race. I had a fool in a diesel dodge challenge me on a curvy mountain road. He did not have a chance but boy did he try. I just dont get it. I dont try to race other sports cars. Its not fun having to tolerate nearly constant challenges to race. And one else run into this?

Get used to it.
All the racer-boy wannabe's and the asshatz with small-dick syndrome, usually in big trucks, want to test their pathetic excuses for a high performance vehicle against what has always been a clear leader in the segment.
Probably one of the worst things about owning a Corvette. Exercise some restraint and use the common sense that is lacking in these pretenders......

I think it comes with having a vette. It stands out in a nice way and unfortunately you get people with their attitude thinking their car is just as good for a fraction of the cost.
Those same cars that want to play against my vette on the drive home, seem to squirm when I am driving my camaro which is modded and doesn't hide its power.
I find it funny when I mention what I spent to get my vette to friends, that they are shocked how affordable they are in the used market.

Other enthusiasts just want to see a performance car do its thing. For the most part, they know how their cars stack up but enjoy getting a good show (both visually and auditorily/aurally) regardless of the outcome.

sometimes they just wanna see you stand on it thats all, dont think theres any hate or jealousy thats kind of weird.
Some just drive too slow hoping that 14th coat of wax wont blow off too. Its a phenomenon.
Hell we used to do it in the 80s knowing they wouldnt take us on

Two things I've noticed:
1. Some people genuinely want to see what your vette can do (vs. trying to race and win) and those people don't bother me as much. The.... less-then-super-intelligent in this group sometimes want to see this while in traffic and that's just ridiculous. Otherwise I understand and give a little wave (but never race).
2. Other people are legitimate morons, the true a**clowns of our society. These are the teens driving very loud, very slow Honda civics, douchers in giant white trucks, 20-somethings in mustangs and BMW 3-series (the most expensive used cars they could afford), and generally anyone who welded a giant airplane wing to the trunk of their 4-door family cruiser. Although they will never go away, these people should be entirely ignored.
Someone in the thread said it "comes with owning a sports car". This is my first vette but not my first sports car and I agree, 19 yr old engine-revvers just comes with the corvette experience.

Well a lot of these post are accurate. Esp. the ones that suggest that some people may just want to see a fast car go fast....harmless. Can't understand the OP's over concern on the issue though. Ultimately you are getting the greatest form of flattery....they are noticing your car. Enjoy it and cruise on !!!!.....

Burning Brakes
I get people in the middle of a busy city reving their cars next to me at a light wanting to race on a regular basis. I purposely take off slow and let them do the stupid things that can get them in trouble. I won't be responsible for endangering other peoples lives.

Just ignore them. I think to myself "nope, won't be putting on a driving demonstration today"

All you have to do is ignore them or laugh at them and go on.
