Many modders never stop modding until they do which is also when they tire of the car. There is always another mod to eke another two-tenths out of the quarter to try.

I've seen this in myself in bike modding. I finally stop, tire of the bike and then sell at a loss because my dream mods aren't my buyer's dream mods.

If you want the car to be faster at the track, meaning road course, get some better rubber, brakes, and go to driving school.

I disagree on getting an '06 Z06. I'd say the 2008+ are the best Z06's to get, because they got the upgraded transmission and upgraded steering rack which is more precise.

Also GM claims the heads were limited to '07 and '08 cars, but there are owners on this forum who have Z06's outside of this year range and have experienced the same issues.

Anyway, whether you go C6 Z51 or Z06 is up to you. The LS3 takes boost better than the LS7 does, so if you're trying to go to very high HP levels, you might be better off with a LS3 equipped car. If you're fine with bolt-ons and want to focus on suspension and handling, perhaps the Z06 is a better base to start on.
