California Mandated Emissions Recall nightmare

Lets start with a lack of hurricanes. You don't have to keep going to Alabama to pick up your roof. And, as a native Californian who decries the condition of my native state under Social Democrats, I can tell you that earthquakes are highly overrated by the press and the rest of the country. They occur very seldom and they rarely do much damage.

I just bought my 08 in April and in Cali all sales have to pass the emissions standards for the vehicle. I was unaware that there is a mandated emissions recall. My diagnostics report says all is ok. What is this recall and when was it instituted? The only active recall I have on my Z51 is for the low beam headlamp jumper.

And already talking about getting an attorney.
Since your very detailed evaluation did not mention ever giving the repair facility a chance to correct their error, maybe you should give that a try.
Bad installation is all that happened here. Have them fix it.
Holy cow.

I'm looking at the GM recall notice I received for my 2008. It does not give all of the years the recall covers. It was a hot topic, so to speak, just research the topic. The recall notice states the cats will be replaced and the engine will be reprogramed. I had it done in 2016. None of the issues you described. Some complained of loss of noise and power. Some claimed more power. Any changes were way to small for the seat of the pants difference.
Anyway you can have the it on a hoist so you can see if anything is touching?

My notice was dated September 2015.
Once the recall is completed, DMV receives notice. It is only mandatory for registration in CA. In CA, when you bring your car in for a smog test they look up your VIN for open emission recalls. If nothing is open, then the recall was completed.

My car was originally from California, but is now registered in Texas. I've gotten several recall letters about the cats and have thrown them away. After reading this post, I'm glad I haven't gotten it done, and it now cements my decision to never let them do it to my car.

I must admit I do enjoy minimal rain and year round track days 🏎

I did this recall to my 08 manual 9 months ago & I have none of your issues. I did notice that my oil & coolant temps ran at least 15 - 20* hotter after the recall - cats are more efficient at higher temps but higher operating temps promote detonation. Easy fix though - just reloaded my old tune.
I'd take it back, it does sound like your exhaust is touching the car somewhere.... maybe.

I have told both my daughters that if they move to another state i would be more than happy to go with them, they are my only living family , have two daughters and two grand daughters i will stay in California as long as they do.
California is in a downward spiral because of liberal thinking that does not see a tax it does not like, they are going to run out of people to tax in the long run i am hoping that my daughters will decide to leave the state i think we will all be happy some where else imho.

I have three years until retirement, then it is Tucson AZ for me. Can't take all the taxes any more. I can live in AZ with the same standard of living for about 30% less pay.

Ha, I went Cali to Seattle and back to Cali. Now I just want to settle in Seattle. Of course now it seems it's illegal to drink water while driving up there. lol
