Windscreens for Convertibles, pro’s / con’s
Anyone have any opinions of wind screens for verts? Any downsides? Thanks!

Just installed one like you have pictured here on my 13 GS about 2 weeks ago. It defiantly helps with wind and wind noise and imo looks good also. I can't think of any thing negative about it. If you are thinking about installing one I don't think you would regret it.

You can go windrestrictor.com for more info on them. Also youyube has some pretty good videos on installation and so on.

I have installed a WindRestrictor in my Vert also. I like it, but wife loves it. You still get some air blowing from behind, but it's way reduced and not a blast on the back of your head. I can hear conversation now, if that's a plus. LOL. Don't love the look, but I like STOCK look. One thing I would do different is leave off the writing and just go with the symbol. The writing is backwards from the front of the car. Looks OK in the rear view mirror though and from behind the car. The crossed flags look good either way.

good point about the lettering. Didn't think of that.

I have toyed with the idea for the last few years (and still do). My biggest issue is the comments about it works better with the windows partially up.
I don't care for having the windows up, fully or partially, with the top
down. Seems to dampen the value of having a convertible.
Maybe some day.

Held in place the same way. The only diff is that on the earlier models the hole is already there. It is the hole where there is a screw that holds the seat belt cover on. On the newer cars the are using a clip instead of a screw.

There is only one negative I can think of with the Windrestrictor. If you are tall and need the seat fully rearward and reclined the seat back will contact the Windrestrictor. I am sure the mounting brackets could be tweaked to rotate the restrictor slightly rearward to provide clearance.

I am a huge fan of the Wind Restrictor. Works great, with side windows up you can talk to the passenger, or hear the radio. I went for the plain model with no lettering, makes it less obtrusive.
As to having the side windows up, well, on our 5000 to 6000 mile road trips, comfort beats "cool" every time. 70-80 mph all day long will induce you to roll up the side windows.
You need them there anyway when it starts to rain. Don't stop and put up the top, drive faster. You wont get wet unless you are going slow, like 40 mph in a downpour.

No holes had to be drilled in my '05. Fitment/hardware/mounting are all first rate. It can be removed in a few minutes, but with wires if it's lighted, and for what reason. Maybe if you drive it half the year in climate that doesn't allow top down or something like that. If you are tall, I can see where the seat Being all the way back would be a problem. I'm 6'2" and like my seat way back and had to adjust my seat memory setting slightly to keep from hearing a minor squeaking noise of leather on the clear plastic. Never tried it with windows up, but is 70-80% effective with them down. Windows up seems to remove some of the advantage of a Vert to me.

If you don't like the wind, or you must talk while driving, they why the heck did you buy a convertible or a Corvette??? That's the fun of driving one! No restrictor for me.

Love the wind, just don't like it blowing hard on the back of my head and neck, especially when it's cold. The fun of driving a Corvette is what I deem it to be. Don't care at all what others think. Rode a Harley for years and wondered why would you ever put a windshield on one. When I got to be in my 60s I tried it and never wanted to look back. Much MORE fun to me! On my 8th convertible, and all were driven with top down most of the time.

Your definition of fun applies to no one but yourself. Judging others based on your own likes/dislikes is just rude.
