What is the story on your '63 split window in your avatar? Is that a '63 or another project?

Ted, this split window project is a cross between a C5 Z06, and a much modified genuine C2 body.

Essentially C2 body hugely modified to suit the standard C5 platform. She's 10" wider at the rear, 6" at the doors, and 8" at the very front. Some 8,500 hours to build this car.
Dash is all hand made to reflect the C2 era, ( some 550 hours ). No plastics visible, and houses all the refinements of the C5.
Uses Kenne Bell twin screw supercharger, and coil over suspension from Zphadt Racing.
Did all my researching on this forum, as well as many purchases.

The concept between these latest projects and Prodigy is quite similar, and different from anything else I've seen.

Slow going here, everything seems to take longer these days.
Finally have all front clip mockup done, molds made, and following are pics of where we are up to with the first copies from the mold.
Modifcations extensive to make the chrome bumper C3 body work with the C6 Z06 platform.
Hope the following pics make sense and are usefull to someone. Happy to field any questions.
I have more than 850 hours into this front build process to date:- yes, too bloody long, any slower and I reckon I would rust up.

Pic 1 Gives an overview of what we did, and yellow tape gives a visual
of the mods needed to achieve our objective. In order to get
some sort semblance of original design integrity, we added 25mm
right down the centre, and balanced the remainder between
down each side. We think it looks great, but it reads all wrong.

Pic 2 You'll note the C6 front marker lamp. Plan on using original early
C3 bumper overriders, plus grille surrounds, but of course these
will need lengthening to suit the front. It will look like a '68-'69
on steroids from the front. Front chin spoilers made to keep too
much wind from escaping under the car, and gives us the low look.

Pic 3 Profile shot, had to move wheel arch back 110mm, which was a
bit of an ask. Cut 60mm from across the front, just in front of
windscreen, and moved wheel arches back 50mm, which made the
nosecone 50mm longer. Had to juggle the 68-69 vents into a
110mm smaller area to make look right.

Now moving on to dash build.
We are using a RHD C6 fibreglass dash and modifying it to suit the base of a widened C3 windshield frame.
Then as the pic shows we are using urethane foam to sculpture the shape before we finally finish it off, and take a mold from it.
Not much of the original C6 dash left, as we cut most of the front section off due to the huge C6 windscreen rake.
We explored other dash options, but this design will work with our build plan, so decided to run with this. Intend using leather and carbon fibre appointments to make it more upspec thou.
Pic 1 shows the cut down C6 RHD dash in place, pic 2 shows the start of the foam building process.

This is an amazing and fascinating build! You're making great progress on it. I'm especially interested because my first Corvette was a new '69 C3 coupe, and I presently own a 2012 C6 coupe. I can only imagine what it would be like to have one car with the best of both.

Thanks, yes that was my dream too, but it's an awful lot of work. Man must be mad after building Prodigy. Said I'd never do anything that bloody hard again:- and yet here I am doing it again. To make matters worse, four of my friends wanted to join me, so we are doing five of them!!!

I guess like a lot of us older Corvette Tragics we love the look and styling of the older Vettes, but long ago lost interest in driving and maintaining 'old' cars. So, we go and dream up ways of getting the best of both worlds, and give ourselves massive challenges. Still, I am retired and need something to do, and a further reason to get out of bed every morning

Dash progress.
Took a 'quicky' mold of the front edge of a C3 dash pad, mounted this on the new base of our modified C3 windscreen frame, and used this as a reference point to pick up the C6 RHD dash. Then using foam and bog to get shape right, and once done will take a mold from it

Fantastic work!! My problem with other similar builds is the C5 or C6 windshield, doors, door handles and mirrors. I just can't get past those parts visually. You dream is perfect!! And the craftsmanship looks great.

I did the same thing, mountain biked way out in the bush and then took the drive back to Melbourne up the Great Ocean Road. Incredible, took about 16 hours. Would definitely love to do it again on motorcycles.

I've been watching this thread for some time, and I have got to say, you have some serious mad skills. I sure hope you would consider finding a teen or 20-something who has a passion for cars to mentor and pass on what you know to the next generation. It would sure be a shame to lose your amazing contribution to the Corvette world some day.
