2006 corvette base model coupe with 34,000 miles. Sometime (about 1 in 8) I can not get the gear shifter to shift out of park. If I rock the vet back and forth or pump the break pedal it will eventually shift out of park. In ideas? thank you in advance.

Next time it happens do this:

Release brake. Push FORWARD and HOLD the shifter all the way forward WITHOUT pushing on the release button on the shifter. Now apply the brake, and then see if the release button works.

If it does, you have a bad park position sensing switch in your shifter mechanism that isn't making contact properly.
