2016 Corvette of Year
2015 C6 of Year Finalist
I had a BMW 645 that was in the shop 3 times the first year
I have had my Vette since new and all it has needed is the roof fixed, a new AC compressor, the shift linkage replaced, all that in 11 years.
and it cost half the price of my SL... so tell me what is trash??

Since you have been on this forum for such a long time, I guess you speak from experience.

Another Corvette hater, why do people like this waste their time posting on this site? As I said before, how many people post how great their car is? Typically it is a post with some problem

Unfortunate for this to happen to your 4LT dash. As others have said, its a known issue for the leather dash in Corvettes going back a number of years. My 2009 base model car had the same thing happen when I purchased it a couple years ago. Part of the sale was to fix the dash to my satisfaction. They had a shop try glue it down, but it still looked like something I wasn't happy with, and the shop would not guarantee how long it would last. They ended up replacing the dash with a new dash. But also said they wouldn't replace it again, even under extended warranty.
My 2011 GS has 4LT and I keep a watch on it. I don't know if something that you may have used to clean it has any effect or not. I was told to only use water on the new dash and not use leather cleaner or any other stuff like that on it. Apparently the glue used o hold it down is not strong enough to hold it.
There are several other threads on this forum about this. It would seem that GM would cover this under special conditions like the clutch master cylinder.
Good luck with yours.
Photos are of my 2009 base model after they tried to glue it back down. it had come up all around the HUD and the center vent.

Well i'll admit that yes our beloved Corvette has it's share of problems, but not about to call it American trash. Most people that buy Corvettes, or at least most of the non-bias Corvette buyers realize that the car is gonna have it's problems as almost every year of Corvette has had. But most are willing to hang in there with the problems just cause they love the car and all the fun it can bring. Yes i'll admit that the vette isn't the highest quality, but i've owned one almost all of my entire adult life and will continue to own one until I can't drive anymore. and heck....I might still even own one then just so I can sit in it and act like i'm driving.....

So do most base coupes come without the troublesome leather dash? Basically skip the 4LT option?

There is a guy in El Paso who makes custom dash covers. The material is like the carpet on the side of the tunnel and it helps keep the dash cool and cuts down on reflection. I don't think it's worth trying to have it fixed - money wise or risk of screwing something else up by disassembly.

Sepand, I think you are going to learn an expensive lesson. Unless of course you are wealthy enough to keep trading in a Bummer every few years to stay under warranty. Wait till it's out of warranty and they tell you that some stupid module failed and it will be $7000.00 to replace, or they want 800.00 for a starter. There are plenty of horror stories out there about German cars. If you want reliability, get a Lexus.

I have a 13 GS 4LT and have not had any problems with the dash coming up but have watched these threads the last couple years. If I was doing my own, have the windshield removed and have a good upholstry company glue it back in place, reinstall the windshield . Several members have had good results with this method. In my opinion hot weather and direct sunlight like Florida and Texas is really hard on the leather dashes...Few hundred $$$. Don't let the negative comments sway your judgement. 😎

Sorry to see these threads keep showing up, but so glad I've got a 3LT.
