Default Detailing my exhaust tips

Easy way to clean and polish exhaust tips. Wanted to share this fast and easy process hopping it can help you. They may be easier ways but this worked for me bc it was on hand!! Harbor Frieght buffer with a 3" hock and loop wool pad and three inch backing pad.

What compound r u using! Two things come to mind. How long has it been since the tips have been clean. It's important to use a abrasive and polish. That's why I like #83. Cleaner-polish diminishing product. You also could be polishing the carbon build up. Steel wool with some brake cleaner, something to break down the carbon. Once you get it clean then it's a snapp to touch up. Hope this helps

Damn hotrod...that looks amazing. Good stuff man.

I'm currently getting a new exhaust installed. Because I was tired of cleaning\polishing the mufflers on my old setup. I decided to have the new one ceramic coated before install. So hopefully with some soap and water. It should always look brand new.

I have a similar set up, it works great. Got the "buffing bob" at Harbor freight for $3.99. They have a tapered one and a cylinder one.

Here is a little tip ...

If your exhaust tips are really dirty, before getting the metal polish out ... Go to Lowes and buy a bag of '0000' super fine steel wool and get most of the crud off first before using the metal polish.

Also works great on glass. I spent two hours "slicking up" the glass on a 1995 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo I got about 6 weeks ago. After some Rain-X it's great! The steel wool took off all the old water spots, etc. with no scratches.
