If the Corvette didn't exist, what would you own instead?

1995 about to hit 80k. Everything works (even the BOSE stereo!) and it drives very nicely. Automatic with cloth. Wanted one since I first saw a yellow one in 1990. So incredible for 1990s technology, including the HICAS four wheel steering. Not real fast (really heavy at 3550 lbs.) and 280hp.
I also have a 1971 240Z!

With an intake, exhaust, ECU flash + boost controller it will be like a whole new car and you won't notice the weight at all.
Check out twinturbo.net if you haven't already. It's a great forum that's been around since the 90s. Many of the original members are still there.

Funny how times and wants change. There are 2 cars that I've always wanted, a 60's E type Jaguar and a Studebaker Avanti. I was a teen when I first saw an Avanti and it was love at first sight that never went away. Same response to the first E type that I saw. Since the Corvette came along I'm satisfied.

If you every do get that Cayman go with 09 up for the 9A1 engine. They're harder to find, but a bit faster and way more reliable. Add intake, exhaust, high flow cats, plenum, throttle body and tune and call it a day. The 9A1 engines are very reliable since no IMS to worry about and the engine feels very smooth with fewer moving parts and very responsive thanks to direct injection.

I've always had a crush on the 911( like I have the Corvette), but I think the Cayman (or Boxster) is just a much better sports car even if it doesn't have the history and cache.

The Boxster Cayman reputation is improving though. The last time I was at my local Porsche dealer, a guy just traded in his 2016 911 GT3RS and his Ferrari 458 Spider. He left with a Cayman GT4, a huge grin and a pile of cash.
I'm intrigued by the possibility of a mid-engined Corvette, but I really hope it is still offered with a manual transmission.

Always been a Mopar fan. Traded the C5 for this SRT/Design. Smaller Hemi but most of the other features of the SRT. Great ride, handling, and gas mileage.
So probably trade the C6 for this.
Chrysler 300/S AWD
And keep the Durango for hauling Stuff

Jag F type with the V8 of course. Or Aston Martin if I could afford either.

Don't get me wrong, I had an AP2 S2K for ~5 years. It was a fun reliable nice handing car, but seriously lacking in torque and power. I'm pretty sure I was regularly out accelerated by soccer moms in mini-vans at most traffic lights.
If S2Ks weren't appreciating so fast, I always thought it would fun to have another with the V8 swap that is becoming more common these days.
