Fabs don't work on C6s. Get a couple of fobs and program them for the car.
Else trade the car for one with less technology.

How many fobs do you have ? and if more than one, are they both or all acting the same way?
You may have a defective fob.

To the OP:
Usually, when you start getting the No Fob Detected message, it is either the fob battery is weak/dead, or there is interference such as a phone, florescent lights, magnets, etc… or a combo of those things that keep the car from "hearing" the fob.
Try to identify these. Remove one possibility at a time, and determine what the problem is. Phone first, battery next, and so on.
I have problems with my favorite purse, which has four very strong magnets as clasps. My cars will not see the fob if the magnets are between the fob and the glove box antenna (C6) or steering column (C7). I flip my purse around, and Voila! the car starts.
For most men, it is phone in the same pocket as the fob, or fob in left pocket, which just may be too far from the glove box antenna.

Correct me if I am wrong but can't you bypass a dead fob battery by putting it in the slot in the glove box? Or even just put on in the slot without a battery and leave it there and not have to worry about the fob other than opening the door, which you can bypass as well with a key by opening the trunk and pulling the handle.
YMMV as I have not tried this theory yet.

Yes. No or dead fob battery makes no difference in the slot. However, I would not want to have to access the car via key and pull cord every time. That's why I wondered why he was stranded. Also, I would not want to leave the fob in the slot, because, then anyone who could get into the car could drive off.
There is a reason the fob is not working, and getting to the bottom of it is the answer.

The key fob I was using didn't start the car. I used the slot in the glove box and the car still didn't start. I was there for 90 minutes trying to get it to start. It only start finally worked when I removed the fuse to check to see if it blew, then reinserted it. Started right up after that.
The fob would unlock the car, lock the car, pop the trunk, sound the alarm. But it would not start the car.
