I don't street race but a young buck with a Lexus ISF called me out. He knows I'm bone stock and I don't know if his is or not. If I decide to street race(I doubt I will), what are some preparations that I should do? I may show up and let him win so he can brag that he beat a corvette.

What is this? "I doubt I will", and "let him win". Why come on here and ask for info if you are going at it like that?

If you are serious, people on here are going to need to know if you have a stick or auto, and what you have done personally testing your car and getting to know it. We don't know if you have ever even turned off t/c, or spun the tires. Lots to find out before anyone can give you help.

If you have a strip near you, I would recommend you race there. If you must street race, for safety sake, find a desolate road and do it there. You don't want someone making a left turn in front of you, or pulling out of a shopping center as you rip by at 100mph.

There is still that 1% chance that I'll say F it and race. Or I'll just go out, line up, and let him win without putting in any effort. Anything can happen. I got a bone stock LS3 untuned auto running on runflats.

I had 1 street race when I was driving my first Corvette many years ago. It was at 2 AM on a deserted city street at the edge of the city limits. Got beat on the top end at 137 MPH by a Z28 Camaro.

Never street raced with any of my other 6 Corvettes.

If you do street race, make sure you do it in Mexico. Mexico is only a short 15 minute ride from any CF members home.

Eh, when I was young, street racing was just something we did at night, any night we were out and about. Looking for a race and looking for girls, that was life.

I don't do either any more. Well I would still race but I live in the hills, with twisty roads, no place to really do it nearby.

Street racing can be done with marginal safety, but you need to have multiple people blocking off side streets that intersect into the race street. You don't want to put anyone other than yourself at risk, so its best to settle this at the drag strip. I found out early its hard to keep up with a lot of new cars, so i ended up supercharging with a 3.4" pulley, 100% methanol injection, LG headers, and soon ill have a cam.

I am willing to bet the vette is quite a bit lighter than the other vehicle and you should have plenty of power to beat him. As i see it, you don't have a lot of time to add power to the car. Most of the time, the best driver wins. Most people don't know how to drive their car, so as long as your decent you should win.

ISF has 416 HP, but less torque. ISF weighs around 3850 lbs. If his car is stock, theoretically you should beat him. Both cars could have traction issues, but with more torque, you will spin more than him. Probably a close race if he's stock, good luck if he's on a bottle. Lots depends on the road surface, traction and drivers ability/experience.

You should race him, but take it to a track and do it right.

Do not fill the gas tank before you race, less than a half a tank. Do not do a burn out. Do not have the ac running. Leave the stereo off. Clean your car out before you run. If your car is an automatic, leave it in drive and let the car do the shifting
