Default Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Prices

So it's time to replace the tires on my 2007 base. I decided on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and the best price I can find in SW Ohio is almost $1400 out the door (inc. tax, alignment). The prices only go up from there. Does that seem right?

Am I in a Michelin price gouging hole (forum searches seem to indicate others aren't paying this much)? I can get them from Tire Rack, but by the time I pay shipping and then pay for installation, the price is almost as high ($1036 shipped minus a $70 rebate + installation and alignment) as I've found locally.

At this point, I'm looking at other less expensive options, but locally I can't find anything for under $1100 OTD. This would include the Bridgestone Potenza S-04 and Continental ExtremeContact Sport. A couple places I called said they couldn't even price anything because they couldn't find both sizes in the same tire in a warehouse that was close enough. Are tires for these cars really that hard to find?

Since it cost more for fuel they have to charge more as costs more to get them to you!!!

$1400 isn't really all that bad. Michelins just cost more, but I think they're worth it. My Super Sports were closer to $1600 as I recall, and a full set for my C5 (I think they were PSII or something of the sort) were about $1500.

Wow, ok - maybe these are just the going rates. Somehow I thought I should be able to get the Michelins for $1100 or so and I would have thought that the Continentals would be even less. Maybe they're just more than I thought.

did you try discount tire? they sell on line now and you most likely don't need an alignment. I loved my kumho ecsta but it was a DD got almost 30000 out of a set now that it's a hot rod I've tried some others just had a set of Kelly's up front car wandered all over the road, I got a set of Sumitomos up front and the car handles like it's on rails, they were cheap too.

Discount tire doesn't show the 4S on the website for my store. I may call them. Why would you say that I most likely don't need an alignment? I have never in my life bought tires without an alignment.

I will call Costco. They don't list the 4S on their site.

I am also now looking at the Pilot A/S 3+. It looks like I can get a set of those installed for about $300 less than the 4S (Costco has them for $961 OTD and I'm guessing to add $100 for the alignment elsewhere). I don't need A/S tires, but do drive later in the fall and early in the spring (without snow) when the roads are cold.

I'd encourage you to contact Costco, they had the best price I could find by far, just under $400 for the Michelin Pilot 4S for the 345/30ZR 20. At that time they didn't have the front tire I was looking at in stock which was the 285/35ZR 19, so never got the price on it. Also keep in mind to get Costco's price in writing and then shop it around for a price match. I've heard Costco won't always install plus sized/over sized/non oem sized tires. Good luck!

I paid about $1500 for a full set on mine.

Also, you don't need to get an alignment just because you put on new tires. As long as your tire wear is even the alignment should be fine.

Thanks - I guess the $1400 w/ alignment is not unreasonable. I know I don't have to get an alignment, but I would at least want to have it checked. I can't really tell by tire wear since the originals only have 10,000 miles on them (had it a year and original owner left it in the garage its whole life) and I'm just replacing because they are old and hard.

Still need to get prices from Costco, but it definitely looks like I can get the A/S 3+ for a lot cheaper. I'm on the fence whether the warm weather advantage for the summer tires outweighs the cost and cold weather advantage of the A/S. I don't track the car and drive spirited but don't push it to the limit...

If the old set of tires were wearing fine why would you need an alignment?

I paid $1200 at the chev dealer for a complete set installed and balanced. I went shopping and brought them the lowest price estimate. They price matched!

I'd look on Amazon. I'm waiting for the larger sizes to come out this spring (ZR1) 19 and 20's and can only wish they will go for 1400 !

I don't know that the old tires are wearing fine. They are not worn. Just old.

Good call! Though the 4S tires don't show up on their site, I called and they can get them for me for $1110 installed (they don't do alignments).

Pilot Sports- There is NO SUBSTITUTE!!

After trying several brands..... My PS-2s are hands down the best handling tires out there..

If you don't have them now.... Just wait, your car will handle like its on rails!!

I can't wait! Heading over to Costco to order. Thanks to all for the help. I can't believe there can be such a range of prices for the same tire. I got quotes as far as $500 apart! I guess it pays to have a Costco membership.
