Here comes Irma... and she's ugly.
Good luck and well wishes to everyone in the path of Hurricane Irma. You folks in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas take care and get prepared. As horrific as Harvey just was/is... Irma could be potentially much worse. I was in Florida a month after Andrew in '92, and that was catastrophic. Irma could be 10 times worse.
Say a prayer, cross your fingers, or do whatever you do for some good luck with this monster storm.

Thanks to Garry for voicing what many of us are feeling. My brother lives near Houston, he went through and continues to feel the affects of Harvey. My wife's family is all in the Florida Keys, south Florida and south Georgia. We are concerned for their safety.

Sister and I little nervous about this one but not a dang thing to do, we have a family vacation home at Isle of Palms SC
Here is a picture she found of it after Hugo
Needless to say it was not built in the middle of the street
New house built up on stilts so hopefully should be ok, Nephew is putting up storm shutters this weekend

I had a Bible study Wednesday evening and with all our personal problems that needed praying over, the concentration was prayer for those in the path of these hurricanes. And praise for the wonderful people out there helping them. God Bless All.

Over here in NC, folks are stocking up on supplies. Some stores are out of water bottles already. I wasn't in NC at the time but I've heard stories about Hugo and power was out for over two weeks.

Prayers with all in harms way, heck they are even starting to warn us here in Upstate SC about possible problems Mon & Tues from this storm.

I will be watching hurricane Irma very closely, my son lives in Fort Lauderdale. I urged him to fly back to CA, but he insisted to stay. My best to you all in Florida and also those in Houston who are trying to gather their lives back.
My Prayers go out to all you guys who will be affected, God Bless!!

Thanks. My sister lives in Hiuston and we have been in contact with her through her problems, and now here I am in Florida waiting to see exactly what Irma has in store for us.
First thing tomorrow is get all the windows and sliders covered, patio chairs in the pool. Puckul and store all other loose items. Then sit back and wait.

Thanks Garry.
I evacuated as I am 9 miles from the ocean. The house is young and built to the latest hurricane standards. I put up the accordion shutters and for extra protection I put up the vertical wind shear supports for winds over 175 mph. The downside of this house is 6 very tall pine trees near the house. My HOA would not let me remove them. I'm praying the trees are still up otherwise I can have a flattened corvette and a sonata. I took the larger car and filled it without destination. I'm in Marietta Ga. and was hard to get a room. The storm will be visiting here but I have no idea of what category when it arrives here. I was invited by my Florida neighbor to stay at his summer house in Michigan about 700 miles from my hotel. I'll be staying there until Florida roads are clear and they have electricity and gas. I'm praying for all our forum members to be safe.

The only good news I've seen so far is that Irma has been downgraded to a category 4 instead of the 5 it was yesterday.

Got lots of food, water, fuel, batteries and ammo though so unless the mountain we live on starts coming down, we're as prepared as we can be.
