Default Touch up paint for competition gray wheels

Hey guys,

I have done extensive research on this topic and I am familiar that there are several threads regarding touch up paint for these wheels. I found that the "correct" touch up paint code for these wheels are WA9243.

I ordered this touch up paint from Automotive Touchup, but I can tell from the bottle that it will not be an exact match. It is substantially darker and has much more metallic flake in it.

To those who did get a successful match of this touch up paint, where did you order it from?

Thanks guys!

I have used Dupli-color. The cap number reads BGM0534 Gray Met
(90 WA8798). Replaces T183. Found this recommended on the forum. Purchased at Auto Zone. I was only able to find it in a spray can, so sprayed on some cardboard and used a small brush. Seems very close to me, can't really see the touch up from foot or two away

In for answers.

Finding the silver to match the barrels of polished wheels and a silver to match the exterior of the fully painted silver base rims seems to be challenge.

Thanks! The cap alone in screenshots looks much closer to the competition gray wheels. I will give that a shot.

There is also a gloss clear coat they make to apply over the paint after the touch up. Have a Cyber Gray GS and the competition Gray wheels look great on it.

I have black lugs.
I use black nail polish.
Maybe find the color in nail polish. It’s nice and shines and it stays on.
You can also buy clear shiny nail polish.

Hey guys,

I wanted to provide an update on the touch up paint. I initially thought the WA9243 was too dark and had too much flake. I wasn't able to return it so I thought I would get up close to the wheels and touch up a small chip before going out and buying the BGM0534. Surprisngly, it did match extremely well. Not sure why it looks so much darker in the bottle, but it is definitely a very solid match.

I highly recommend everyone pick up WA9243 from Automotive Touchup if you have the 06-08 Z06 Competition Gray wheels. I have heard that the competition gray color might vary slightly especially for the 2010+ Grand Sports competition gray wheels so I cannot say for sure how well it will match the GS wheels. If all competition gray wheels are the same color (so to speak), then the WA9243 from Automotive Touchup will work just fine.

Hope this helps!
