2013 GS or 2014 Stingray?

I'm 6'3" and I hit my head on the roof of the C7 I sat in to test it out. Felt like I was being squeezed in a vice by the seats too.

after all this time of big guys buying Corvettes - C5 and C6 especially -- Chevy would not have gone backwards on such an important feature given the average size guys in USA - Dumb *****!!!!

Well this turned into what I thought it would.... Ask about the C7 in the C6 section I guess it's to be expected. For me I just couldn't get to my price point on the C7, but my budget was lower than yours. If it was between a 2013 and 2014 I'd probably go 2014. I like the look of the C7, including the back :-)

For the last few months I have been shopping for a GS. However, The asking price of them seems to be around mid 30s to low 40s for a 2013. Recently I've noticed 2014 showing up in the high 30s to low 40s.
I don't really have a preference other than I want a newer car.
What would you guys recommend? Seems the C7 jump would be the right choice. I personally think these 2013 GS are overpriced.

I just went through a similar process. I could even have sprung for a brand new 17 given the heavy discounts offered at model year-end. I liked the idea of buying a heavily depreciated 14 that looks just like the brand new model. Ultimately, after looking at a lot of cars, I just didn't like the look of the C7. (without going into specifics). Saved myself a bunch of $$ and bought a 2012 coupe.

I test drove a few C7's but just couldn't part with my C6 due to all the work I have in it. If I was looking at a stock C6 vs C7, I would grab the 7. I actually prefer the C7 in a NB.

Styling is a personal preference, so look at the tangible differences.
GS Pros
Last year of production-maybe all the bugs worked out.
Proven drivetrain.
More room inside.
Possibility of future collectability.
Upgraded suspension/brakes.
Cons
Cost/availability of tires.
Last year of a body style that started in 05.
Cheap interior plastics.
C7 Pros
Upgraded interior finishes/gauges.
More HP.
Newer body style.
Cons.
DOD.
First production year-teething problems ?
Useless 7th gear.
Taillights.

OP:
I was facing the same question last year...'13 GS or '14 or newer Stingray. I was seriously looking for a clean, low-mileage C6 GS having previously owned and loved a base 2006 C6 coupe.
Then, just out of curiosity, I stopped by a local Chevy dealer and saw the car in my sig. Long story short, I got such a great deal on it that I simply could not walk away. Brand new 2016 3LT Z51 that's been the best car I've ever driven. And this is my 3rd Corvette so I do know what I'm talking about.
When I first saw the C7, I was sounding like many of you in this thread....ugly, like the Aztec, too many angles, etc. etc. I know. But when actually seeing one in person and looking at how everything blends and works together, I finally admitted to myself that it is a great-looking car and worthy of serious consideration.
Looks aside, the leap in technology over the C6 inside and out makes it worth another look for anyone remotely interested in upgrading to the best Corvette ever produced.
By the way, I'm 6'3", 230 lbs. and fit just fine. You do have to adjust the seat properly to get the maximum space provided, but it does work comfortably.

That's all well and good if your into that stuff. But for a lot of people the '13 GS has more than enough tech to get the job done.

I haven't seen any reference to the Auto trans on the C-7, don't know if you want one either but I suggest you take a look at the thread about the Auto trans in the C-7 section, pretty dismal That alone would sway my choice.

I recently purchased a 2013 GS 3lt. I had the same thoughts as you are having with the 2014's priced very close to the 13 GS. For me it was less about money and more about the car, I think the C6 wide body is the best vette every made. When I drove my 13 I knew it was the one in about the first mile. The car is absolutely awesome, it has a ton of power, handles absolutely fantastic, has enough room for a "big guy" and looks amazing as well. I have not questioned my decision to go with the C6 I love this car.

Even if I liked the C7 rear(which I don't) I still wouldn't buy a 14 with all the 1st year bugs. The debut of the LT1 with direct injection & cylinder deactivation? No thanks. One plus is the problematic 8spd auto isn't in the 14 if your going that route. Give me a 13GS with the bulletproof LS3 and zero gremlins.

. I drove the C7 and I fit fine. As far as room for a passenger and extra space, It's a sport car not a car to go to Home depot and buy outdoor furniture. LOL!

Put quite simply there's no denying that the C7 is the better car if you can get past the styling. I couldn't so I chose the C6 GS earlier this year. The widebody just looks fantastic to me.

That is better. When I was at the museum a few weeks ago,I spoke with couple of GM employees from the plant, we had the discussion of the camaro looking rear. They said the C8 rear will more traditional corvette and we will be happy with the C8 look. Couldn't get much more out of him tho.
