Differences in Grand Sports year to year?
Hi Guys -
I have had my '97 C5 for seven years. Loved every minute of it, even turned it into my own interpretation of what a C5 Grand Sport would have been...but I am now starting to consider moving to a C6 Grand Sport.
I've been doing some research, but thought I would ask some of the experts here...what are the differences, model year to model year, that I should be aware of?
For example, I know the Bose system went from 7 to 9 speakers starting in 2012.
Appreciate any input you may have...
Thanks!

I would say get a 2012-13 if you can. Better seats starting in 2012. Also you can stream music over using the USB port inside the console starting in 2012. Not too many other difference that I'm aware except for certain colors only being available certain years.

I think you mean you can play MP3's from a Ipod or such but you can't stream music in a C6.

Also for 2011: the active handling system will offer a dual steering mode. When the system is placed on the performance setting, the steering stiffens to provide a more precise feel of the road. This calibration is intended to help the driver on serpentine pavement or when running at a track event."

Also remember only the M6 is hand built. Not sure if that means anything but just something I didn't know before purchasing mine. You weren't at Road America last month were you?

Love my 2010 GS but would have preferred the 2012-13. I wanted a very specific version and waited almost 6 months for my 2010 to appear so I pounced. If the corvette gods weren't taking a siesta that weekend it would have been a 2012.

Mine is a 2011. It is an LT1 so its pretty basic. But that is what I wanted.
It has the stuff I wanted when i found it, low miles, xlnt cond, Torch red and npp exhaust.
The only thing I've done to it is replaced the black spoiler and door handles with color matched ones , and added a foot switch to the NPP.
Since it's not a daily driver I don't care for or care about the extra options like nav, hud , etc. That's just extra expensive electronics to have problems with, and I'm sure most of them eventually do.
The one thing I wish I had were better more durable comfortable seats, but that's a corvette thing.

Advanced
I ended up with a 2LT 2010 GS. My list was simple, White exterior, red interior. Hard to find, so when I found mine I pounced as well. The only drawback so far is the stock radio non-bose. decent sound, but terrible integration for the time period.

Drifting
Go with a 2012 or 2013 GS. The seat improvement can't be beat. I have driven mine on 3 different 3,500 mile trips and had no leg or back problems when I got out of the car.

The 2012-13 seats are not "competition" seats, but they are very good, especially for long drives. I've done trips where I spent 12+ hours driving in mine, and when I got out I felt fine. I've driven several cars with pre-12 seats and there is a big difference. Along with all the other changes for 2012, I would definitely try to find a 12 or 13.
