Who makes C6 Nav system?
My C6 has the stock NAV/Radio/CD player in it. Just stating that before I get to my question.
I got an email from Pioneer that starts with this.
"With the introduction of Apple’s new iOS 11 mobile operating system, Pioneer has discovered an incompatibility with AppRadio Mode on certain Pioneer Navigation, DVD, and AppRadio receivers. If you connect an iPhone® or 5th or 6th generation iPod touch® device that has been updated to iOS 11 and launch AppRadio Mode, you will experience a blank screen or other display malfunction that disables AppRadio Mode."
Now I think I'm on some very old list because I once had a Pioneer DVD player/recorder in a desktop computer. THAT is why I likely got this email. But I want to make sure they are not somehow talking about the NAV/Radio/CD unit that came from GM in my stock 2012 C6 Grand Sport.
Can anyone enlighten me about whether the unit in my C6 is likely related to the above words from Pioneer or not??? thanks

One more question, did Denso build the Head Unit throughout the 2005-2013 run and most certainly including my 2012 year??? I was just reading more about Denso and see some confusing info on that "when did they build the unit" question???
All I'm interested in is the 2012 year but just wanting to clear up any confusion on my part.
thanks

I hated the stock navigation in my 2012. I sold it to another forum member and replaced it with a Pioneer nav unit. Huge improvement.

Does anyone know what the latest DVD map year is that they made? I think they stopped making them so there is not a 2017 version, I dont think, so what is the last version, and does anyone know how to make a copy of my current one in case it gets damaged I will have a backup. Not wanting to make one to sell or anything, just make a workable copy of the one I have in case it gets damaged. Thanks.

The last update was in 2016 and from what I've heard there will not be another.

I made a copy of mine for the same reason .
I used the free version of IMGBURN from www.imgburn.com... very easy to use
make an image of the disk and save it to your hardrive then put a burnable DVD iinto your burner and burn the image ...put the original back I the case for a rainy day

plug and play as far as the radio goes , need to add a NAV antenna and possibly a VSS wire (vech speed sensor ) both easy to to . If you have a 3lt with Bose radio you might already have the VSS wire , if not it's easy to add
Then you need to have the VIN removed from the radio that you purchase so it does not go into "Theft Lock" . anyone with a GM Tech ll can do it in about 5 minutes....
Google Ray Kawel .. on his page he has step by step instructions for installing the newer style nav with USB .. the instructions are the same for old style . he also sells the VSS wire if you don't have one
