Default 2013 427 shifting question

Recently traded in my 2015 A8 on the 2013 427 Anniversary car. Open road shifting is terrific. 505HP is a blast. When I am leaving home or pulling back into my development holding to the (25 MPH Speed limit) the car almost lugs if rpms drop much below 1500 in 1st or 2nd gear. I have been trying to avoid staying on the clutch but the powerful motor just does not like to run slow. Any thoughts on best technique and gear to drive at slower speeds.. Driving in next years 4th of July Parade will be tough. Thanks.

usually first gear for me when driving into subdivision without issue, still will need the clutch pedal for the parade though, either that or neutral and let it roll or coast when the situation allows..............

did a parade in mine and that is the only way to keep it at the slower speeds they require...............

I agree with using 1st gear for your subdivision. I've been in several parades, and about all you can do is put it in 1st, then give it a little gas and coast in neutral, put it in first, give it a little gas and coast in neutral, rinse...repeat. Parades are hard on a Vette clutch. I would suggest performing a clutch fluid swap using the Ranger method before and after the parade, depending on how long the parade route is, and how dark the fluid is after the parade. I had to do both before and after with the parades I was in as the fluid became noticeably darker afterward.

Have been driving a LS7 for eleven years now. Second gear at 25 mph is a non issue. Cruising at that speed in first just seems too much unless doing it for pleasure. If you are going much slower than 20 mph first is fine.
If you read the owners manual it somewhere says second gear is fine to start from a stop with first gear optional (at least in the '06 Manual). I see no difference in driving the 2013. I rarely start from second myself but easily done. Car is loaded with Torque. In Top Gear's first review of the LS7 they showed where the car can start in fifth gear and roll to I believe it was 180.
Think it's just getting use to the car.
