New C6 owner Dayton Ohio
Hello All
I introduced myself, as a new member, to the CorvetteForum at large up in the introductions thread. But as a new C6 owner, I will be spending most of my time here in this section, so I thought I would re-introduce myself to this thread and group. And I've lurked here, on and off, for a couple of years now, so I also need to say "thank you" to all for all the helpful knowledge I picked up here. In my case, I think I was a smarter buyer than the seller, which sometimes helps.
My name is Dick, I am close to 63 yrs old and after nearly 50 years of "someday", I just bought my first Corvette. (My wife would say "we" bought our first Corvette, and in truth, it IS titled in her name. But I don't know that she has been saying "someday" to herself for 50 yrs.)
The car we bought is a 2013 60th Anniversary Edition Coupe, complete with the silver stripe. As a base LS3 with 6 speed auto, it might be called an "old man's Corvette" but in all fairness, that is what I am. But it also has the dual mode exhaust with a Mild to Wild key fob controller. (Which I eventually figured out was NOT the undocumented car alarm the selling dealership thought it was.) By checking the RPO codes on the glovebox label, I also discovered it has the larger (J55) brakes. So there is some spice left in the mix.
I spotted the car one afternoon, sitting up on the"display perch" of the used car lot at a local multi-import dealership, and while I didn't buy it that day, I was hooked and in the pan at that moment. It had 4400 miles on it, and was as near to perfect as a car that has actually left the showroom can be. Somehow, it stayed there for almost another month, while I dithered, comparison shopping other similar age/mileage/equipment Corvettes in my area. Similar, but not the same. SWMBO finally convinced me to act before I lost it.
My "dream" Corvette was never white with broad silver stripes, more likely blue or yellow, but I am truly glad I found this "museum piece" 60th. Turns out we both really like Arctic White with Blue-Silver Pearl graphics.
I love to just look at it, but driving it is way better. In two weeks of ownership, my wife and I have put another 1000 miles on it, most of them on roads in the southern Ohio hills, with the roof out. I can't go play today, but I am sure it will pick up some more tomorrow.
Great to be here!

Welcome aboard Dick!
I'll second the Restoration Station Fall Color Road Tour on the 15th. That is a total blast that you and your wife would really enjoy.
Also on Sunday October 1st (tomorrow), there is a big Car Show at the Columbus Zoo that usually has a lot of Corvettes in attendance.
Would be great to meet you at either one or both of these shows.
And oh, nice Vette!

Welcome to the Forum and Congrats on a great looking C6.
It's nice to see that you want to enjoy driving the car, not just sitting in a garage and looking at it.
Have a Blast!

Would LOVE to tag up with you at Restoration Station tour, thanks for the tip. But 15 October I will be at the Red Bull Air Race in Indianapolis, sorry. (Went to the first one last year and renewed my tickets for this year before we left. Oh well.)

I drive past Voss almost every day on the way home, I've stopped and visited the cruise-in a couple of times. I may participate more actively next year.
We did bring the Corvette to Cars and Coffee at Carillon Park before the Dayton Concours a couple of weeks back. (But all we did was park and then wander and look. Didn't hang around the car. Heck, I didn't even spot wash it ... )
