Car Beeping?
Hey All,
Just bought my first Corvette. 2008 LS3 convertible all options, 20,000 miles. Wow! This car is amazing! Just incredible. Spent all afternoon driving it around the twisties in the Berkshires. I'm totally hooked. But I've noticed that when I leave the vehicle the horn will beep 3 times, then there's a 2 second pause, then it beeps again. I can't figure out what this means. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Congrats, and welcome to the forum. Great looking car. You need to read the owners manual. Lots of good info there. It will tell you all about the car...why it beeps, how to stop it, etc, etc.

When it beeps 3 times at exit, the car thinks you have left a fob in it.
When it beeps once again, it is telling you it has locked.
All of this is covered in the owners manual which can be down loaded for free if you do internet search and welcome to the forum and Corvette ownership..

The one beep is the signal that the automatic car locking option has been set and the car is now locked. That option can be set to not lock automatically, or flash the lights when it locks, or beep the horn (once) when it locks.
These are in your owner's manual.

The forum is here to exchange information, especially for those who don't feel like poring through a 400+ page Owner's Tome.
IMO, the people here usually explain things better than the tome does anyway.

Well then you must have blinked when you got to page 3-72 DIC Vehicle Personalization where it tells you how to set the car up like you want and what happens for each setting and especially page 3-77 FOB Reminder

Where you driving this car in Spencertown last week? I passed a red vert, top down as it was driving into a little rain. Either way nice car and welcome to the forum.

With mine if I leave to the rear it doesnt beep. If I move towards the front or linger it lets me know. I think the sensor is located near the glove box hidden in the dash. You can silence the auto lock where only the lights will flash

The three beeps is a warning that you left a fob in the car after you got out of it and shut the door. The car will also do that if you take too long to move away from the car with the fob after you're out of it. An alternate fix is to turn off the fob left in the car warning option with the other options you can set with fob #1 and/or fob #2.
The one beep is the signal that the automatic car locking option has been set and the car is now locked. That option can be set to not lock automatically, or flash the lights when it locks, or beep the horn (once) when it locks.
