Default Date of Manufacture?

I bought my 2013 C6 Grand Sport used. Love the car and want to add some custom floor mats. Lloyd Mats needs to know if it is an "Early" or "Late" 2013. How can I learn the manufacture date. The VIN is: 1G1YV2DW6D5109787 Do some of these numbers provide the date? Other method?

Thanks, Rob

If you open your drivers door there is a sticker with your vin, along with some info which includes your manufactured month/year. It's on the actual door under the latch.

Measure the floor mat hook on the passenger side from the hook to the door sill. Earlier cars are 8.25" later cars are 9.5".

You can go to your dealer and have them print out an unofficial build sheet/vehicle summary (I don't recall the official name of it) which will give all sorts of info including actual build date, options, warranty service/blocks, and title history.

Any dealer should be able to do this for you.

Thanks Torch,

Its all in knowing where to look. The sticker list a Date of 02/13. So it appears that would make it an "Early" 2013. Agree?

Rob
That would make it mid-year. Usually, MYs run ~ Aug-Aug.

Usually. But in the case of the 2013 it would be a late, very late one since the last one was built Feb. 28.

FYI ....

As far as the car's actual 'Build Sheet', it does not show the date of production.
____________________________

From the Corvette Museum website:

Q. Does the build sheet contain the build date?

A. No. In 2006 the Assembly Plant quit putting dates of any type on the build sheet. Prior to that, the date on the build sheet was NOT the date the car was built, but the date the order was entered for production. It has been reported that it took 7-10 working days from the time the order was entered until the Corvette rolled off the production line.

And there isn't a build sheet on top of the gas tank either. And you can't tell by the stickers and chalk in various places because those are when that part was made, not the car though, with JIT production, they will be close. Things change in 65 years of production and just because one Corvette had something done one way doesn't mean they all have it done that way.

As mentioned in an earlier post, there is a sticker or plate on every car I have ever owned located somewhere around the front door opening. Usually on the B-pillar but for the my C6 it is located on the actual door by the latch. This is considered the vehicle ID and contains specific info for your car such as VIN, GVWR, build date (month/year), etc. As far as I understand, this is for all cars designated for US sales and is regulated and required by DOT Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

Yes, the sticker on the driver's door under the latch listing the month and year is close. I believe, however, that sticker is created when the car is scheduled to start being built. Depending on problems during manufacture and when it was started it may mean that the car comes off the line the following month. I know of no record when a car is finished and sent to the holding area prior to shipping.

Thanks for the feedback. The month and year is close enough for my purpose. Mine was built in "02/13" The additional information from another writer that February was the last month for 2013 C6 production was important. That makes my C6 a "Late" 2013. I assume GM
then began tooling up for the new C7.

I have a certificate of origin dated 10-30-2007 and the dealer rec'd the car on 10-31-2007. From what I understand, the C of O won't be issued (printed) until it passes final inspection and stays with the car until delivered to the dealer.

I can only assume the car was finished on the 30th and transported to Dearborn, MI with arrival on the 31st.
I'd think someone who did a museum delivery, might even have the same day on their C of O.

My order date was 9-10-2007, but the build didn't start until October, due to a global hold for Crystal Red Metallic paint. Because the tops were assembled and painted by an outside vendor, my top is a slight mismatch than the rest of the car. It was probably painted prior to the hold.

Even though I didn't take delivery until 11-8-2007, GM's system still shows 10-31 for any warranty work. It wasn't a problem, because I used up the 100K miles long before the 5 years.

That's the term I couldn't remember in post #4. Yes, among other things, it shows the actual build date.
