Default Noise from M6

Hey guys, I just moved up from a c4 to a very low miles 2008 c6 on Friday. My situation is that I'm hearing a noise coming from the rear end when I'm in 1st gear and I let off the gas, its like a clanking noise or a slight bang, almost like two pieces are hitting together. It only happens when I'm going extremely slow, like creeping along and let off the gas. Other then that one situation, the clutch and everything is perfect. Is this normal for a c6 or something I need to be concerned about? I've had other manuals and they've never made this noise. Not sure if it matters but it does have the z51 package.

No, not normal at all. This from a nearly 10 year C6 A6 owner of a daily driver with 90K miles.

Brakes perhaps? Rear axel splines may need greasing?

or another thought is it could be the differential fluid. All the things I mentioned have been known to cause rear end clunking.

another thought since you have a manual. It could be the clutch packs.

Are clutch packs different in a manual rear end as opposed to an auto ?

how do you figure? rear clunking is a slow speed turning issue, his problem is most likely the drive shaft couplers, so you test drove the car and bought it and now you hear the noise?

correct, I just picked it up on Friday, test drove it twice beforehand, never heard the noise. But it only seems to happen at real low speed, like in my driveway or in a parking lot, when I'm just creeping along and then let off the gas. Car only has 4,000 miles, it seems prefect in every other way.

I notice it when the wheel is turned very sharp at that low speed
