I've had them check and double check and that's their number. It's actually about $700 a year HIGHER as a secondary vehicle than my primary vehicle with similar coverage and a similar replacement value. Thankfully, I have about 6 months to figure this mess out, but it's nice to start budgeting now.

Don't wait 6 months. You can cancel your policy at anytime. Find an Independent Agent and have them shop around for the best coverage for you. Remember price isn't the only factor to consider when picking an insurance company....service is equally important.
Good luck.

Hi Adam,

I need to wait until I sell my Harley and see how things go with taxes and EOY bonuses which come out late in the 1st quarter before I consider buying a Corvette.

I will definitely keep you in mind when the time is right, thank you!

Part of it is living in Florida. When I moved to NC from FL, my insurance dropped by over half.

The other part is that insurance for C6s is going up. As the cars age, the younger or more reckless drivers can afford them, and they usually wreck them. It's still not as bad as insurance for a nissan Z car or my Subaru STI was, but there has been a dramatic increase in insurance costs for these cars.

The low insurance costs were a big part of the value prop of the C6 for me. That is rapidly eroding. If something were to happen to my car, that is one of the factors that would cause me not to replace it with another Corvette.

Pete, State Farm has some of the highest rates in the nation. You need to get rid of them, yesterday!

I am in Las Vegas, and was 66 when I bought my '08 Vette. Prior to tht, I was driving an '01 Silverado, and SF was charging me $2,000 per year. I got a quote of $2300 for the Corvette. Went to GEICO and got the same coverage, plus accident forgiveness for $1100 per year.

Living on the east coast of Florida, I’m paying $916 for everything including $500 deductible with a multi car discount. My agent said it depends on what area you live in. He did say if it was Miami then the insurance would almost double

$600.00 per year with Hagerty. Unlimited mileage with full coverage. Recently found out it can vary depending on where you live. Also if you don't have a good agent they will incorrectly qoute you on a price. I just added an 02 T Bird to my policy and was originally quoted at $1150.00 per year. Called up my agent and told her this can't be right as my Vette is much less. It was corrected down to $535.00 per year. She said they have hired a lot of inexperienced people from other insurance companies who don't know how the system works with Hagerty.

Thank you for this. My plans on purchasing a C6 have been on hold because all the insurance quotes I am getting are basically doubling my rate for car I will only barely drive. The quote I got here is only $455 a year for great coverage. Perfect for my needs. I can now move forward. WOOT!

My goodness your coverage is pretty poor for what you pay.
I wouldn't even consider only 300k coverage, what you pay seems very high. I pay 812 for 8 month and 120 for winter storage, and thats with
250 deductible and 3mil coverage for public liability and property damage.

Since it is your 2nd vehicle check out Haggerty or National corvette museum insurance.
I pay $526 a year with agreed value. I am limited to 6000 miles a year and don't do that anyway. Also need proof of 2nd vehicle.

Hagerty insured my C3 for $370 a year with high dollar coverage and I live in one of Florida's counties known for notoriously high insurance rates. Wish I could get coverage this affordable on my other 3 cars and my bike. They just went up to $570 a month with Nationwide. What a rip.

My total for 6 vehicles is ~$1,750 per year. That is for liability, including a 427 Convertible. When I added the Corvette, I got a $9 CREDIT on my insurance. I guess because of a multi-car discount. I have almost $1,500 in discounts.

Maybe my low rate is because I'm an old man living in Alabama?

By having only liability, I'm sure I've saved enough to pay for the 427 Convertible by now. Knock on wood!

This policy includes two young people with speeding tickets. Mine is about half of theirs.

Over 60 here in MO and pay about 500 a year for average (i'm guessing) coverage. Policy is however on State Farms under 7-K miles a year plan.

8 years ago State Farm tried to double my rate to about $1500/yr simply because I moved. I immediately switched to Erie and have been paying around $450/yr since for the same coverage you were quoted. I'm now 38 with clean record. I don't think Erie is available in Florida but Geico was competitive when I last compared prices about 2yrs ago.

2012 GS. I'm 41 and pay $760/year for 300,000/500,000 coverage and a $250 deductible. I use Geico and they have treated me very well over the years.
