Why does the manual on p.5-53 say to see the dealer to have the low beam replaced? And on P.5-55 it does not list the low beam bulb #,only the high beam bulb #.

Probably because they are a PITA to R&R. You have to remove 2 small brass screws, have almost zero room to get torx screw driver and your fingers in there at the same time. Drop one of the screws and your in deep do do as NOBODY has spares. Plus you have to move the bracket to the new bulb.

They tell you the answer to that is on page 5-52. Here's what it says:

Quote:
The low beam high intensity discharge lighting
system operates at a very high voltage. If you
try to service any of the system components,
you could be seriously injured. Have your
dealer/retailer or a qualified technician
service them.

High voltage... Yes if you work on them while they are on.. You can always disconnect the battery ground cable.

I had that done about a year.At least the dealer said it was done, but i dont see any evidence that the fuse box was worked on.But that recall was that both low beams would go out.

I would say this would be more likely than the bulb since the bulb actually does still work.

The symptoms on the OP's car are the same as I had not long ago, and it turned out to be the bulb.

OP, the bulb is not hard to change, but the screws that hold it in place require a torx. The screws are easy to lose also, and not easy to find.

It's pretty simple. Rotate the front wheel out of the way, remove the access cover in front of the wheel by removing the reusable push/pull clips. Keep a telescoping magnet close by the tip of your screwdriver to catch the retaining screw when removing the bulb. Of course don't touch the replacement bulbs glass surface with your fingers.

Didn't one post suggest that the screws were brass ?? Hence maybe a magnet wouldn't work ??......
