Default Low Air Pressure, Right front tire

Get the message occasionally while driving but then goes away in minutes, as if it suddenly interpreted the proper PSI. Gets annoying. Don't want to bring it to Chevrolet and let them throw parts at it (tire valve stem sensor or sensor reader itself). What's your guys take?

Low at start-up but then as the tires warm up the air inside expands and reaches the threshold to turn off the warning? Or does it come on after the tires are warm/you've been driving for awhile?

Could be a bad TPS or some electrical problems… Check your battery connections… Was having the same problem… Sometimes it wouldn't want to start on the first try or even say "No Fob Detected…?" Turns out the negative post connector on the battery was lose…? A faulty connection could cause error codes on your dash… Worth a try… I use a quick connector because the original when tightened as far as the crew/ bolt would allow the post some how seem to shrink or something, because I could sometimes turn it on the post by hand? Even with the quick connects, it still sometimes has the same problem… I use a socket wrench to turn, tighten the crew/ bolt and the problem goes away… I guess the heat under the hood makes the metal soft/ shrink…? I've replaced a few batteries, and the alternator and still had the same problem… Turns out those weren't the problem.

so that tire is lower in air than the rest of your other tires and activates the message and once your driving the tire gets warm enough to take out the message. put some air in that specific tire . end of thread lol

Depends if you are getting a real numerical reading (like 26 psi) that is a true low reading, or an XXX reading.

I've had to replace two TPMS sensors on a 2011 when getting an XXX display, pretty much means the batteries are toast.

You haven't given us much information. How old are the sensors? What is the actual pressure in the tire (from a good gauge).

It could be a battery going bad. As the sensor warms up, maybe the batty starts working. Batteries usually work better when warm.

^^this^^ Probably. My '05 right rear does the same thing but with a twist.
  • If the "real" pressure is 28 lbs or less ... it thinks the tire is flat after 45 minutes of driving, then in 30 minutes thinks its OK
  • If the "rea1" pressure is 32 or less ... it thinks low, then flat, then OK in the same time intervals
  • If the "real" pressure is 34 it just thinks low, then OK again in the time interval

The DIC usually reads about 8 to 10 pounds below the "real" pressure so I all makes sense, well sortof. I figured this out over time, fortunately I have an air compressor.

I have 05, and last week put new tires, and replaced all the TPMS sensor.
I would think Batteries are on there last leg, why look for trouble.

For once, I'm not getting much help on here, unlike past posts. More smart *** comments than anything.

Like I said, the message comes up intermittently. Not when I first start out of the garage for the day, so evidently the pressure is ok then, and for the most part of the drive. Tire pressures are within .5-1 PSI from each other, but not far below 30, when checked with a tire gauge. The sensors may be original from when the car was built in '05. I am the second owner, owning it for 9 years, so unsure if they were ever changed by the original owner. But some of the helpful votes thought it could be the tire sensor itself.

If you don't know when they were replaced, I would just save myself some trouble and replace them.

The battery in the sensor may be going out, especially after owning the car for over 9yrs.

Mine did same thing--would display "XXX" intermittently when car was only 3 years old with 30k. 1 shop diagnosed as reciever in the car or something--which made no sense to me--so followed my gut and paid the $70 for Discount Tire to replace the sensor. That was the fix. I have since replaced the other 3 as another started doing the same a year later. My advice--replace the sensors because they are likely the cause; and even if not they are due anyway. Again, Discount did everything out the door for around $70ea.

my 06's were still working when I changed them this year, my guess is yours are 2005's, would it be that hard to change them? how long did you think the battery would last?
