Default Need Picture/Dimenisons, Console Lid Latch

My friend is working on a model for the console lid latch, and since my piece is broken where it secures and I cannot find the pieces, I don't remember what it looks like. If someone would be so kind as to take some pictures of their intact factory latch I would be most appreciative. If you could provide some dimensions on the latch piece that would help even more. Everything else is modeled to scale, just missing this last piece.

The end goal of this is to have a 3D printable model so we no longer have to pay $40+ for a stupid piece of plastic bound to break again. Thanks in advance.

I would definitely appreciate this. I would take a pic for you, but mine is broken as well.

Didn't see this thread until this morning. I'll grab pics and dimensions this afternoon if nobody gets them before then.

I thought the lid latch was supposed to be broken?

A very common problem it seems. I haven't found the broken piece of my latch yet. I am pretty sure I kept the piece, I just don't know where.

Bought my GS last year. Latch broke as stated. I used Velcro latch to keep it closed. Would really like to replace the latch if someone is going to create one.

Have you gotten what you needed? I have a base 2008 convertible and have taken some pictures and measurements best as I can.

Here is one picture, the rectangle with the tab is 2 inches left to right and 6/8 inches top to curve at bottom of tab and goes between the lids top cover and base 6/8 inches best I can get the measure in. The top of the little tab is 8/32 inches out from the base and 6/16 inches wide.

Thanks. I have the latch with the piece broke off so I can see where it goes on the piece and event the dimensions of where it connects, or in this case, breaks off. I was mostly looking for a few pictures of the latch from different angles, and then getting the dimensions from the hook portion of the latch. I've seen a picture on Cultrag's site that shows a picture of the latch, but it has gussets on the back side to keep it from breaking. I've never seen one like this in the wild and when I take a stab at 3D printing a new one, I want to make sure it is designed so that it doesn't break again.

Here you go. Measurements aren't dead on as it's kind of hard to grab some of the parts.

The latch is 8.28 mm tall and 10.58 mm wide. The actual catch is 7.49 mm deep.

Thanks and great job doomi

Was just headed back out with the dead calipers to check measurements when I figured I'd check in to see what exactly needed measured & you've already posted

Still working on it. The model is finished and just needs to be printed with whatever supports are needed. A bit busy with holiday time right now but I believe I'll have something in January.

Bump! Are you able to share the file? I will draw one up today if not, might save me a couple of hours!

I have uploaded to Thingiverse but it won't be available for 24 hours since I'm still considered a new member. I can email the STL file to those who need it sooner, just PM me. I have one more STL file that is in the works to smooth out some of the sharper edges. Once I print that one, I will determine if the changes are beneficial to the final model.

This is great! Our latch is broken too. I have access to a printer, just need a file.
