Drifting
I agree with you regarding the a$$holes. My other vehicle is a 2015 F-150 Lariat Supercrew. I would be just as upset if it gets damaged versus the Vette. As I stated, I will not limit where I take my vehicles, and will not worry about it while I am shopping. I will try to pick prudent parking spaces and leave it at that. When my number is up, it is up; I can't control that and despite wanting to keep my vehicles nice, they are a depreciating asset.

Melting Slicks
I go to Walmart about once a month because they are very close (less than a half mile from my house) and they are about the cheapest place for a wide range of general stuff everybody needs like laundry detergent, toilet paper, pet food, etc. The thing I notice is besides the homeless begging at the entrances is there are a surprising number of people who walk there (despite being on a 6 lane road with no sidewalk). So they buy their junk and push their cart to the edge of the parking lot where the OP parked. They then leave the cart there because the little wheels won't roll easily through the rough grass beyond the parking lot. So don't park all the way at the extreme edge of the lot where they abandon their carts. I do what some others said and part about 6 or 8 spots beyond the last car. Not too likely to get door or cart dings out there. Just watch out for those really high wind days when **** is blowing all over, nowhere is safe then.

Safety Car
The few times when I drove my car to work, I parked at the far end of the lot where no one parks until the lot fills up. I park my car diagonally while still staying within the lines. That keeps cars from getting close to my doors, plus their doors line up with the angle of my car when it opens.
I used to park in a different corner of the lot, but these three guys with new trucks started taking the spots I used.

Southern Piedmont Area
I know an ER doc who had his black Range Rover parked in the doctor's parking area at a hospital in Charlotte, when he came out to leave, someone had scratched a tic-tac-toe game onto his driver's side door.
There are a lot of jealous, miserable ****** out there.
You have something and they don't...so it irks them.

This is what happens in Walmart parking lots, even out in the middle of nowhere!
Freakin' school bus drivers think they own the world.

I'm glad no one damaged your car. I too also park far away. I enjoy the walk back

Big, wide, close parking spaces but I wouldn't wish the need for a handicapped parking placard for anyone. My mother and father-in-law both have and need them.

Unfortunately I fear this situation reflects poorly on how others today respect both themselves and especially their fellow mortals. In addition to the Vette, I have a new Taurus for the wife. I drove it on day to the Post Office, parked and left her sitting in it. When I came back she was fuming. A young lady had parked next to the car--passenger side and slammed her door into the rear side, causing a small dent over the wheel. When confronted about her actions, her reply was, I was in a hurry I guess and didn't pay any attention to what i was doing--sorry. It is all about me don't you know--would have been a better answer.
