Salvage Flood Buy

Having no key or fob sucks for now, waiting on a Tech 2 since the knock offs are so cheap. Makes my HP Tuner seem useless in this situation.

Keep us informed on your progress....I'm interested to see how it turns out. I'm sure there are plenty of cars that were really totaled with flood damages, but others that were not nearly as bad as some under water. Yours looks like light damage from water, not one that was swimming.

Quick clean with a damp water towel. More updates when I get some keys cut and fob. Time to pull some strings at the dealership to see if I can get them with the paper work I have.

Working on getting a key cut will find out tomorrow. I cleaned the BCM with electronic clear but will be changing it since I know water did get to the lower section. I hooked up the battery and and everything seems to be working. Maybe more updates tomorrow.

Oh I wish you luck but the problem with floods are more numerous than I can type here. If the electronics work now you will shortly see issues as circuit boards start to build corrosion over the next few months. If the water was salt water or brackish then the steel frame and components will begin to rust at an accelerated rate etc etc...

Can't wait to see it when you are done. Good luck with it. I have a horse trailer and RV dealership so I have purchased many vehicles from Copart. I've been watching the prices of all the flooded Vettes that are on there now and shaking my head. I keep wondering with all the hurricane warnings days ahead of time why so many Vette owners didn't get them driven out of the storm's path way ahead of time??

Thanks guys, I may have worked on this car for a total of 3hr to get where it is now. What I done so far, quick wash on the trailer and even forgot to clean the engine bay from dust. Rolled it off in the garage, then a bucket of water and a towel on the inside. Remove the BCM and cleaned it, put it back on. That is all I have done besides to call someone I know at a dealership to get a key cut.

Well I have a game plan setup from A-C to get it running.
Plan A to get a key cut failed, without registration or title no go!
Plan B mystery time, will give this a try late this afternoon
Plan C Involves spending money that I don't need to since plan B should work
Updates Later on guys

Sorry Plan A failed. Somehow I feel Plan B will work just fine. Good luck with this project. I'm thinking you just might have a winner. Time however, will tell.

Now that you've got about a dozen Corvette owners crowding into your garage I thought I might squeeze in unnoticed. Did you check the dipstick for any signs of water? How about the differential or transmission? All close to the bottom where water might get in. Good luck whatever you decide to do. OBD

Well guys I modified Plan B. it was very easy to do. I tricked the ECM to think a key was in. Gee it's so easy I couldn't believe you need a title, registration to get a key when the fob it what really operates everything. The fob will be here Friday.
