So I saved my $ and am finally ready to buy, what do you gentlemen think?
C6 ZR1 or C7 Z06
I like the rarity. uniqueness and the look of the ZR1 but the tech on the C7 is hard to ignore, so...
What do you recommend for what reason? and those of you who have owned/driven both please share your thoughts <<<

ZR1 draws a crowd and compliments everywhere. Trophy winner as well, even up against C7 ZO6. Have not driven C7 ZO6 but have driven a few C7’s.
A bud has a C7 ZO6 with headers and a tune. Its a monster.
ZR1 stock drives like a basic C6 till above 3K RPM
Ive got only ZR1 one where I Live but there are plenty in Texas.
4684 ZR1’s built.
More than 5 times that C7 ZO6...
Love both

Depends on what you're looking to do. The C7Z is fast around a track for sure, and if you get a new one with the needed cooling upgrades it does a lot. Thai said, it's not really all that special, it's just the Corvette with the supercharged Camaro/CTS/whatever else they stuff it in engine.

The ZR1's LS9 engine is more unique. The car is IMO better looking. In the hands of most, they're about the same performance, because most can't get anywhere near the limits of either.

It's really down to which one you like more. I'd get the ZR1. The technology of the C7 is a major turn off for me - I want to drive the car, not pretend to drive it. Electronic LSDs, crazy track settings for the computers, etc. are things that I don't want, I'd rather the pure feel of driving the car.

Honestly, I someone gave me the money for one of the two and told me to buy a Corvette, I'd come back with a C2 or a chrome bumper C3.

I've been sniffing around our C6 classifieds for ZR1s.

I love my C6 but if I sell, it won't be for another C6 model.

However; if I'm buying current, I would wait to see what's next (Better transmission, paint, ZR1, C8). It's all just right around the corner.

Good luck.

ZR1 if you want a show car or have investment return hopes.

C7 Z06 if you intend to drive and enjoy the car...especially on a road race

I love the rarity of the C6 ZR1 and the LS9 is a beast of a motor, but for the same price point I'd take a C7Z. Newer tech (gen 3 magnetic ride, e-diff, better audio setup, cooled seats, etc).

The C7 is a dramatically nicer car than the C6. The interior, ride, materials, tech, etc. are all much better.

you might be asking the wrong person (people? ).
what is your preference? I'm assuming that you've driven both
( even if only base models ). personally, I'm not sold on the C7 (yet ).
so far, I've only sat in a C7, and 6'-2", found very little leg & foot room.
not that the C6 is a family sedan, but I've been able to adjust.
I strongly prefer the C6 over the C7, but besides my C6, if someone were to gift my ultimate choice, it would be C3 ( 1968-1971 ), 'vert, 427, 4spd ( been able to have a ride in one ).
what floats your boat? if you can't decide, then coin flip it & enjoy the results!
regardless, I envy your position.

good luck!

Many of us just plain prefer the look of the C6 over the C7.

And dramatically worse looking IMO. Every time i see one on the road I can't believe that rear-end design ever got approved.

There are many C7 ZO6’s for sale...more variety.
More to choose from and just about the same price point now....but I’m also too tall, little over 6’1 and the dam seat won’t go back far enough.
Good luck with your quest and post some pics when you can.

True but you see the same thing on OT all the time. C7 design is love or hate.

I've really tried to like them in case I decide to upgrade but its just not happening.
