Default Question on center console removal,,,

OK,,, I.B. Stupid , 2005 C6 AT center console question. I'm trying to do the 'stuck in park fix' and right off I can't seem to get the "air bag indicator light piece" on the top of the console going into the armrest/storage area to lift up or out. I've watched several videos and one guy just put his fingers on top of the piece and slid it backwards.
That doesn't work for me, so what is the procedure to get this part to be removed? Any help would be appreciated.
Frustrated already and just starting this project,
I.B.

ps > did get the lid off the armrest/storage area

Not really sure what you mean by the "air bag indicator light piece"? Don't know of any light for this on the center console.

He is talking about the "tombstone".

I think I removed mine by prying with a tiny screwdriver at the bottom of the tombstone inside the armrest.

Pry it up. There are 2 clips holding it on. The clips are actually metal pieces attached to the plastic on the inside of the tombstone. They can easily fall off when you remove it. If this happens just press them back on. You'll see when you get it off.

Default progress stalled,,,

EV was correct,,,that part was not in the posted above video.

I watched several Y-T videos for this project, and only one showed 'how easy' it was to remove that piece

> at the 2:35 mark

Next problem was the power outlet [cig lighter socket ] in the armrest/storage area.... damn hole to release connector was facing 'up' under the console top... just couldn't get that connector to come out, and being the last one I was dealing with, I cut the wires to finally release the console to move out of the way. Darkness set in, so will attempt to finish this today. The videos make this job look easy....but a lot of ''ing went on removing connectors.

Default Next question.....need further assist,,,,

NEXT hurdle I need an assist with > black plastic bezel ring under the rubber/foam boot collar > video says to use 'needle nose to pinch' and lift up, but that isn't working Anyone have a better procedure to get that bezel off without breaking it? Part is at the 6:52 mark of the video below:

I'm sorry to be a pain in the butt with questions, but you guys know your stuff! I'm an old man with enough fitness to get this far into this project, but need additional help from those who have done this job before. Will appreciate the help! Thank you in advance...

This is a very good step by step instruction on removing the console and specifically shows the tombstone. http://www.kawal.net/centerconsole.htm

Default No more stuck in Park BS,,,,,

Just finished,,,,called in a helper so that 3 hands could get the black plastic bezel out.... pinching the release tabs while lifting up at the same time. Drilled hole through the paw, and ran thin s/steel wire back into the armrest/storage area. All tested out fine, but as another poster said > that project is a PIA,, especially the first time. Thanks for all the help from everyone

The connectors are the biggest pain in the *** of the whole job. If I designed it I would have made everything electrical in the console into one big harness with one connector at the end that plugs into the rest of the car.

I agree EV,,,,,,,,I had to unplug 8 connectors from the back side, and that ain't no easy job when you can't see many of them and haven't done this before. Some engineer wanted to stay busy,,,,along with us trying to fix a GM flaw.

1 Open center console lid.
2 grab plate by rear side and force up so it snaps out of the clips
3 slide backwards
4 don't be too afraid to force things
