Default C7 Z06 wheels powder coated on Grand Sport installed (pics) Rubbing?

Just mounted a set of freshly powder coated C7 Z06 wheels on my Grand Sport. I like how they look. They are 285/30/19 up front and 335/25/20 out back. I believe they should fit fine, but when I was going in moderately hard on a highway hairpin, it felt as if the wheels skipped or the ABS was activated. Do you think I am rubbing or are the new tires still breaking in?

What tires are you running? More than likely just the WIDE front tires scrubbing/scooting as you are making a tight turn.

The wide 285 tires on the front will 'scrub/chatter' a little when you are making a tight turn because of the tire width and the tight turning radius. It usually happens when you are going slow though.

Go to a large parking lot with lots of space and try it. You'll probably see what I am talking about.

What size are the wheels, width wise?

They look fine and I wouldn't think that they are rubbing anything.

Im my opinion those rears just dont have enough side wall. Thats why the 18/19 set up looks so much better on a vette.
Rubber bands in back look so small
. Good luck with the potholes too.

I agree it's probably just the tires acting up in a tight turn, which is common. Hopefully that's all it is because that setup looks really good!

I just installed the same setup. Except with Michelin Pilot SS’. I get a slight jerking at slow speed like in a culdesac. But I’m also having a problem with some weird reaction under moderate exceletation in the rear taking off. See my other thread

When I had my problem, the TPMS hasn't fully calibrated yet as they were all showing 0 PSI. It has since calibrated to show the 30 PSI. I haven't tried to drive it fast around a corner yet, but will report once I have again.

I did read on your thread that yours has calibrated and is still having the same problem though.

I just drove my car today and didn't experience any of the skipping. I'm hoping it was my traction control not liking the PSI still at 0 at the time when I first installed it. I'll drive it some more throughout the week.

Took it for a drive today and didn't have any issues. I'm now thinking it was traction control and how my tires were reading 0 psi. Is your TPMS returning readings?

ABS is a very distinctive feel. Were you on the brakes that hard to engage ABS?

Was it cold out?

Depending on the G force in the turn, weather conditions, tire heat, you may have engaged Active Handling. If the rears got loose, active handling will definitely engage. And I think it should engage even in a push situation, where the front tires start to slide.

Yes, my TPMS are now married and giving reading's. 30 psi per corner. Drove car up to 65 in a normal manner and seems smooth as ice. It's just the initial take off under moderate acceleration that I get the hopping feel. I'm wondering now if it has something to do with much better traction and the shock/spring not reacting appropriately?

It wasn't too cold out, but the tires were brand new. I think I just had to break them in plus my TPMS was reading 0 at the time. I do think it must have been the Active Handling.

I want 18/19 Factory Reproduction (brand) Wheels in Black Chrome

Did you ever SEE or consider buying Black Chrome

Naaah. Just needs a little lowering on the bolts. Tires are exactly right.
