Default Just got pulled over for no front plate

Got a warning, texas.

Had the car for maybe 2 months, had my new tires on for 6 days.
I was not doing anything wrong, it was a bad stop for cash grab. Obviously targeted the car itself, but I got a warning.

This is a stupid idea, but has anyone made a motorized front plate holder that is concealed, but flips out if you need it???

I'm not mounting anything to the front, not sure what to do.

Pics of the offender:

Yes, they make a motorized plate for the front. Do a search on the forum or google it. It is designed for people who want to hide the plate while showing it at a car show.

However, not sure how it would do you any good. If you don't want the plate visible, then you will still get pulled over by cops. Is your plan to get pulled over, then flip a switch and tell the cop he was mistaken? Having a motorized plate concealed on the road is a huge ticket or a taken to jail offense.

Just something to think about.

I think someone makes one.
I had a cop tell me once to keep the plate behind my seat.
When I get pulled over put it on the dash.
Not sure how that would work.
When I was younger I got a ticket for having a "Insecure plate", held on with 10 ga wire. Judge threw it out, but not the other tickets.

BTW: Nice Black (and clean) car.

Get the plate on it now and solve this problem for good. This is the best option.http://topflightrepro.com/corvette-plate-frames.shtml

I looked at one of those motorized plates that slipped out of the way. I didn't try it but decided to stay away from it because it seemed like there was not enough clearance to make it work properly or would get damaged when a scrape happens.. You could get a plate holder with thumbscrews that can easily be taken on or off the car when needed. My friend has a Mustang where he only puts the plate on the car when he travels to New Mexico. He been pulled over twice for this, so he only puts it on the car for road trips and keeps the plate with him to put back on if needed to avoid a possible fine elsewhere.

If you're going to live in Texas and run no plate, you'll have to take your chances.

2 obvious ways to solve that problem.

Nearly 7 years with no front plate. Zero LEO issues thus far.

I won't mount a plate for any reason... I'll just pay the fine.

I've been cited once in 34 years of driving in DFW... been pulled over once for that offense, and the cop was kind enough to give me the option... he said, "will you mount a plate if I just give you a warning for it (I was speeding, too, so that was already a done deal)?" I said, "to be honest, sir... no, I will not." He thanked me for my honesty and wrote me a citation, and I paid the fine.

I'm sure the hideaway plates are ok on these, but I'm not going to the trouble to do it. Drilling the bumper for a front plate is something I'll never do. The decrease in value to the car will exceed the potential fine I might pay once every 10 years.

This makes sense to me. Why would I **** up a perfectly good car's front end.

Here in NY you must have a front plate. Who wants to even think about being pulled over for no front plate. Not me. Got my front painted plate bracket from Top Flight. Matches perfect! Corvette tax is high as is!

I hope your kidding.
Been daily driving corvettes in DFW area for 14 years and have only had one issue with no front plate. They were fishing for other issues and used the lack of front plate as a reason to pull me over.
No ticket issued and no other problems were found, not even the tinted taillights.

Missouri is a two plate state and you won't get away with not having one for too long. I have the removable plate bracket and pop it out for shows which isn't too often.

I had a Top Flight bracket on my 07 coupe. This time around I bought one from Thedoubleaa.com. I like it better because it is curved to match the bumper cover contour and mounts in the center of the car. You remove some of the screws for the splitter, slide the mount between the splitter and the bumper cover, and reinstall the screws. You slightly bend the plate to match the curve of the bracket to mount it. I also added a smoked cover to match by heating it with a propane torch and also making it match the curve.

In Texas that smoked cover is illegal and will get you pulled over faster than no front plate.
