What is the electronic box below passenger cubby?
I pulled my carpet out today to install RAAMatt sound deadening insulation. when i pulled out the passenger side cubby, there is an electronic box beside it. What is it?

It's the Onstar module. It works in conjunction with the antenna (the black box) on the windshield.
If you want to remove it, go here. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...al-method.html
Just know that it requires a jumper in the wiring that will allow your car to start.

Just curious. Does that exist on pre-'08's that don't have the OnStar option? And is the wiring there to allow it to be dealer installed?
The reason I ask, is that the Navigation voice recognition system was also an option that I would assume processes through the VCIM. For instance, an '06 could be ordered with the Nav, but without OnStar.
Also, it appears that although OnStar was considered as standard equipment starting in '08, yet production figures range from only 95% to 98% of the cars were equipped with it. Maybe it was only standard on the lower 48 states.
