Default 2007 Convertible windows do not seal

Hello all, new here and glad to have found this forum.

I bought my first Corvette last month - a Triple Black 2007 C6 LS2 Convertible. I love the car!

I needed to replace the battery as a mechanic indicated the battery did not hold a reliable charge. Sure enough it needed a jumpstart the other day.

I removed the battery to bring in to Napa Auto Parts to cover the core fee. After reinstalling the new battery, the computer must have reset in some way I did not anticipate.

Problem is now, the power windows do not seal up into the weatherstrip around the convertible top. The convertible models as mine apparently have a mechanism of automatic adjust of windows when closing the door(s), the windows go up automatically about a 1/4 inch to make a proper seal.

Ever since I disconnected the battery and replaced it, this clever feature of the power windows popping up a 1/4 inch to snug into weatherstrip no longer functions.. ? Washing it, water leaks in now.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated. Should I take it to a local Chevy dealer service department to correct this problem? Or a reputable local shop/technician could handle this problem?

Thanks for all here and your consideration. Best regards, Chris

Check posts here on indexing windows, or check your owners manual. Piece of cake to do, and free of charge.

That will need to be done to both windows every time you disconnect, then reconnect a car battery.

A few people with earlier cars sometimes had to also reset their clock, but most don't have to do that.

I'm impressed with how quickly I got the answer and remedy on the forum here in reply to my question about this window issue. Common re-indexing of power windows after a battery disconnect and replacement with the simple method of working the power window buttons I would have not guessed without hearing and getting a link to the easy method to index windows. The Vette I bought did not come with it's original owner's manual. I asked the seller about this, but there was not a owner's manual available that came with the car. I am looking at eBay for the correct owner's manual for this car. I would be happy to buy one, just want the one that correctly applies to my C6 base convertible. I had to reset the clock and that was no problem to figure out. This corvette does not have a navigation touch screen and I like that it does not! Simple and straight gauges and a few ***** on the dash is fine and no other distraction. This is a great driving experience when I take it out. I am most happy with this Corvette to be sure. I appreciate your comment, I am glad to be a new member here. Respectfully, and all the best.

You can also access and download the owners manual on chevy's web site. https://my.chevrolet.com/learn/2007/Corvette

And it is free.

BTW, that window indexing problem was needed so many times by many different forum members, that the thread on here, telling you how to do that, was a sticky for a long time. And there's actually a link to that thread in the current FAQ/FYI sticky at the top of the page.

Here's a owners video and a couple other things you should know. With the Vert you should watch the video on that part to be able to put up and down manually if you have the power top.. some things might not apply to your model year but most do.....Good Luck You can also find some "How To" tips at the top of the page above.....in the black heading across the page.

They may be similar or overlap some items...

If you look to the right bottom of your posts there is also a "Thanks" button that comes in handy for a shortcut to say thanks if you don't have anything else to say in a regular post.

Now that you've gotten through your first encounter with one of the C6's many quirks, you also need to post some pics of your 'new' car.

Welcome to the Forum.

Welcome to the Forum.
Thanks Mate! I'm a complete Corvette rookie...This forum has already been a big help for me getting familiar and oriented to what I have. Love the car so far.
The rims I think are ZR1 imitations? There is some vague history on this C6 with owners. Carfax report shows it was resold/title transfer to 6 owners in the last 3 years- that seems odd. Runs great and in all around excellent shape cosmetically. I love it's 6 speed manual. The MBRP inc exhaust is sure loud at throttle. Thanks for chiming in **** Jockey. Thumbs up!

Just think how we all were almost 13 years ago when these things were new. Chris, you'll totally enjoy this forum. There's a lot of knowledge/experience here after those years, and a little trash talk too. Enjoy the car.

Looks great. It is odd to have than many owners in 3 years but sounds like it works for you. Enjoy

Thanks Dennis. The car has a clean title, no accidents reported. 42K miles. First was sold in Ohio and somehow found it's way to southern California late 2012. Looks like it was flipped thru a few dealerships and saw one dealer auction sale in LA area. It found it's way up the bay area by 2015. I bought it from a private seller who had it for a few months and decided he wanted to sell it to upgrade and purchase a Z06 next... I'm pleased and grateful with it and intend to hold onto it for a while. Cheers!
