Default Carbon fiber side mirrors

So I decided to splurge a little during cyber Monday when a really nice deal on the apr carbon side mirrors were at a good price at rpi. After calling, and getting a little more off on top of the sale price, I pulled the trigger. Mirrors arrived 3 days later. I figured that the install would be challenging but very doable. Having today off, I decided to tackle the project. This is quite the install adventure as I soon found out. Door panel comes off with no problem, but that is where the fun begins, lol. The 3 8mm nuts that hold the mirror to the door are located on the curve of the door right behind the window glass. I eventually had to buy a set of mini wrenches bc the one that I needed was not sold seperatly. The space is so small, I had to enlist my 12 year old son to get the bolts loose. Getting the guts out of the factory mirror is a whole other story. You basically have to drill through a small metal wringer to separate the inside. Only had time to get one done today but I am happy with the results.

Looks great, but personally I wouldn't do it unless I had a smashed mirror. Sounds like a PITA install.

Looks beautiful but I just wonder: how does a body shop do it if the mirror's housing is totally broken? I guess they don't remove the guts of the mirror, just replace the whole unit. Plug and play and a few body screws. And a lot more cost.

Body shops also have a hard time removing those side mirrors. When I had some parts painted Gloss Black the shop said all parts would be painted off the car. They ended up covering the car and painting the mirrors on the car. Could not figure out how to easily remove them.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I really like the look but now know why I have never seen anyone with them, lol. I would rate the install right around the headlight lense removal territory.

That looks great on your silver car, not sure about some of the other car colors.

Great job on the install. Hopefully everything gets back together easier than apart.
The Carbon Fiber looks nice. Post some pics when you pull that bad *** into the sun. I think they will really fit in with your CF hood.
Nice job Shawn !
