Default Tpms

Has anyone replaced their TPMS on their Vettes/ Average cost ?
This will be done on a 2007 Coupe with standard tires.

Most people replace them when they replace the tires. Mine were 5 years old when they started crapping out. I do not remember the cost but Google is your friend.

I just bought these. I believe they make them for GM. Should be installing them tomorrow.

Holy crap! They are probably toast or close. You will have to pay for labor again too. Call the place that did the tires. Maybe they will work a deal.....if you are lucky!
I have read different opinions as to go with OEM replacements or aftermarket based on battery life. I did OEM. I would guess maybe $25-30 per tire to install plus the cost of the TPM.

I'm planning to go back to where I had my tires installed and see what happens.

My 2007 garage queens sensors with 18k miles are dying. All of last summer I was getting erroneous pressure warnings from my Left Front sensor. Unfortunately the previous owner had the GY tires replaced in 2015 with Michelin PSS but left the 9 year old sensors in.

I just purchased 4 OEM Schrader 20076 sensors from TPMS.com for $169 with free shipping. I'm going to have all of my wheels repaired of curb rash refinished and rebalanced having the new sensors installed at the same time.

I replaced the TPMS on my 2006 this year when I changed out my tires.
I bought them at Rock Auto as a close out for $110.00 for the 4 sensors which included the kit as well.
They were Schrader (2005-2009)- listed in Schrader catalog as 20076 cross reference for AC Delco #25758220
Anything less than $30.00 is an excellent price.

Long term forum vendor HOUSEOFWHEELS shows $159 shipped for a set of four, genuine GM, with the mounting nuts, as current pricing. Search for the 05-08 Factory Tire Pressure Sensors f/s thread.

You can pick up OEM tpms for under $100 (GM 25758220), and then it will be about $15 a wheel to have them changed out locally at say discount tire.

As for the after market TPMS, let just say have not seen the best track records with them and batter life. The oem TPMS (ac delco/GM) batteries will last about 10 years, while some of the after market one's batteries end up dying in a few years isntead.

Are the re-building kits worth the money or just go new? Getting ready to add Michelin PS 4S.

If you mean digging the old battery out of the TPMS, soldering in a new battery to each of them, RTV sealing them after the battery has been replaced, after they have been removed with the car on a lift/ on another set of tires, so you can do them in first place?

All depend if you have a extra old set that you can do before hand, then hand the re-batteried set to the tire guy so you can swap them out in the rims as he is swapping tires.

If you plan on keeping the Vet for another 10 year, then pick up a new OEM set now, and hang onto the old TMPS to re-battery them down the road when the new TPMS batteries wear out, and they need to be replaced next.

On a 2007 I would be looking to replace all 4. 10 years is about average life but I had a set that went 13 years and all 4 were still working. Check Rock Auto, they have several brands from ~$30 to $60 each.

After 10 years I replaced all four of my TPMS at the time of my last tire replacement. I purchased new ones on Amazon for about $34.00 each which came freight free from Cultrag, which had them on their website considerably more expensive. There was no charge to install and program because I did it at the time of the tire install.

think that's the kit price included. Get it too, new "O" rings and nuts cheap. .Probably about $20 a tire at Discount Tire to install unless you are buying tires. And make sure they program them too. Can't do it yourself anymore without the tool. .

If you purchase the Schrader part number 20076 they are the OEM manufactured sensors that GM installed at the factory from 2005-2009. They come as a complete assembly in a box including seals, nuts, tire valves and valve caps.

If you send me a PM I'll reply with a link to a vendor selling C6 TPMS sensors for $27.45 apiece. They're not a CF member, so I can't post that URL here.

I took one of my old ones apart just to see what was involved. Talk about a joke. Getting all that hardened epoxy type stuff all out without tearing everything up is just not worth the hassle at all ! And i'm pretty good with that kind of stuff. I would buy new in a heart beat. Also to the OP. May sound picky, but be sure you see the new units to be sure you are happy with the way they look. I had one replaced without even considering it and they put a cheap looking black one in on my chrome wheels. As mentioned, might be too picky for some, but something to think about....

I posted a link for the schrader for $25 shipped, is that no good?

Schrader makes them for GM and many other models.
