Default EBay prepainted no drill spoilers

Looking at getting a spoiler but my options are fairly limited since many vendors don't ship to Canada so I'm left with eBay.

https://m.ebay.ca/itm/141688383439

Does anyone have this type of spoiler (purchased from eBay)? How is the quality and fitment?

Let us know if you go for it. I bought a pre-painted one a few weeks ago (different seller), and the fitment was very poor.

Dunno... I have the repainted one from RPI and based on the pix from eBay vendor, the shape seems off. Maybe it’s just a poor pix (i.e., some distortion)

Thats because it's a ZR1 style spoiler.

I bought the one from RPI Designs. It fits excellent and install was very easy. It uses the (4) bolts that hold on the original spoiler. The only thing I would suggest is to replace the double sided tape with 3M VHB as the outside corners of the spoiler are tricky to keep holding down tight. My final solution was to move to VHB.

Thanks for the info. I just checked their website and they do ship to Canada for $100 cdn. All in after taxes and duties I'm looking at about $700 cdn. I'll sleep on this and hope the exchange rate improves by spring lol.

I wouldn't buy that rear spoiler.. get one that's more like the factory one where you actually swap your 3rd brake light into it.. that ebay one just goes over the 3rd brake light.. looks cheap.

I think you would be much better off if you purchased a ZR1 style rear spoiler that was an exact reproduction of the OEM ZR1 spoiler from GM.

That would be a spoiler that has the correct opening for your center brake light, and a spoiler that attaches with the correct hardware (you will need to drill some spoiler attachment holes in the top of your rear bumper cover).

Here is a spoiler that fits perfectly right out of the box. It also has all the attaching hardware that you will need.

The only thing is that it comes unpainted. The finish is just matte black ABS plastic ... So, if you don't want it in that raw finish, you will need to either have it painted or have Hydrocarbon applied to it.

This spoiler is found on the eBay Canada website (so they obviously will ship to Canada)

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/For-05-13-Co...1YWIz-&vxp=mtr

Here is this exact same spoiler attached to my 2011 GS:

Again, this spoiler needed NO extra work to make it fit (other than drilling the mount holes) ... I had mine finished with Hydrocarbon prior to installing it.

Attachment 48333538

Notice they don't recommend the use of "just tape". This gives them an "out" if spoiler flies off on you. I'd steer clear

* Easy to Follow Bolt-On Instructions with 3M Tape

NOTE: We offer 2 mounting bolts along with 3M Tape -

we have had customers only use 3M Tape...

MY AMG spoiler is only held on with tape ......own it for two years and it has not budged and I don't drive it slow lol lol

I went with the RON FELLOWS prepainted OEM spoiler , paint match is perfect and only used the factory 4 holes..it has extra hardware for the outer holes but I did not use it ,.been on since I bought the car

Using the "four factory holes" (bolts) and "tape only" are completely different things. From what I understand in their description, it is just notched around the third brake light, not bolted using the factory holes.

Did you not understand my answer?

I was just stating a point, the spoiler on my AMG C class is taped on only , no bolts .. nothing ...just what looks to be 3M heavy duty double face tape and there is not a shot in he##ll that you would be able to pull this thing off

The second option I gave the OP if he did not want to drill any holes was to use the OEM GM prepainted RON FELLOWS spoiler , you transfer your light and your 4 studs over to the new spoiler and use just the factory holes to attach , they give you a stud kit for the very ends of the spoiler but I chose not to use it , after seeing how my other cars spoiler was attached , I just used tape on the ends .....

Thanks for the info. I'm looking into this option.

I did the OEM GM ZR1 prepainted spoiler from RPI, not the reproduction ZR1 style. You won’t have to worry about fit. It’s no big deal to add the 2 holes that Chevy would put in anyway for a spoiler. I didn’t want to drill but then figured that it’s never going to be removed from the car anyway.

Thats basically what I told the OP in my post ... but the OP had no comment about all the info I gave him in my post, so it looks pretty obvious that he does [not] want to drill any holes for a spoiler.

oh well

I did. Thank you. I was just stating my opinion that I don't think it's smart to "just" tape anything of substance to the outside of a performance car

Well, GM certainly didnt tape on the ZR1 rear spoiler on any ZR1 that ever left the factory.

In fact, I don't think GM taped any spoiler on any car they have manufactured.

I can't see why anyone would be so against drilling a few holes for the install of a spoiler ... It's not like your going to be removing the spoiler in the future.

I was thinking about adding the wicker bill C7 type spoiler to mine, till I saw where a Corvette specialty shop took the rear wicker bill off a C7 they were testing on the 1/4 mile and it pick up .05 seconds. That's not a good thing to lose .05 in a 1/4 mile. But the one I was looking at come with a abs black plastic and putting a clear coat on it would make it the same color as my 3rd brake light. PS If I put one on mine I would use the tape and bolt it down.
