Default Michelin tires

What is the opinion of those that have used/are using the Michelin Pilot Super Sport ZP run flats? I am about to pull the trigger on a set for my 2010 base, thanks

The best tire for a C6 IMO. Nothing else will ever go on my car.

I can only compare them to the stock Goodyear F1s, but the Michelins grip and ride better.

I dumped the F1's after 16k miles, road noise increased and grip degraded as the tread wore.

I had both the ZP and currently the non runflat MSS. The non runflat are a little smoother than the ZP's, but the MSS are great tires. The Michelin Sport 4S is and improvement over the MSS and would get them if the tire size is available for you.

PS2 < Super Sports < Sport 4s each replacing the other with an improved tire.

What he said. Go MPS 4s, non run flat. That’s what I am about to do on 09 zo6 spiders.

When mine wear out I will replace them with another set

Besides Michelin is HUGE MFG in our town and Upstate of SC, to me it is local spending on top of everything else

Have ZERO issues with mine

Sad thing is Brother in Law owns local Goodyear Tire store and I can get a hell of a deal on Goodyears

Depending on where you live. Where do you live (your info is a little lacking)?

They are amazing warm weather tires, but are to be used with extreme caution in colder weather.

Incredible tires for traction stability and cornering grip but scary as hell when its cold outside as I found out in late March when we took the car out of winter storage. I found myself going around corners and down the road sideways a few times by applying a bit too much throttle.

I had the ZP run-craps on my car when purchased, grip was good , ride was TERRIBLE!

I switched to the Michelin Super Sport, Great Grip and a comfortable ride.

I now have the Michelin PS4S, Best tire I have ever owned they come in your size.

Great riding tire for a run flat and very good grip as well.

The fronts have a 30k tread life warranty, the rears have a 15K tread life warranty, so it costs you about $3K to get 30k out of the set.
Note, if you drive the car for at least 30K in the 6 years that the warranty lasts on the tires.

Hence your going to wear out the set in about 18K is drive the car aggressively before the time period runs out on the warranty. So the jest, you get about 18K out the tire treads front and backs, they replace the fronts for free, the backs you will need to buy a new set, and your set for the 30K mark.

As for if the your not driving the car that much, and only drive the car a few Thousand miles a year instead, then not that great of a deal instead. Hence in about 3~4 years, the rubber on the tire starts to harden, and what you used to have for great grip when they where new, falls way of the mark isntead. Also, around the 6 year mark, the tires do start to go out of round as well. So really, you want to change the tires on a vet about every 3 to 4 years, Hence do that as part of the math of what you are sticking on the vet to begin with. Simply, its the reason that you can pick up used Goodyear F1 tire sets that have very little tread wear for dirt cheap, but since the rubber on the tires are so old, they have the grip of greased pigs instead.

Hence the SS are going to be about $2K to start with, and if it's a time thing, not a tire worn out thing that is driving the bus on needing new tires over and over again, then there are other tires out there that are much less expensive with the same ride and grip, since they do not have the tire thread warranty instead.

Of such tires, the Kumho XS are top of the list for a street performance tire, but the downside is they do not come in run flats for the size tire you need, as well as they are only going to last about 12K since they have the grip just short of Super Cup tires.

Great tire, but I'd go with the NON run-flats; get the max ride of these tires if you're spending the $/ evaluate where you drive and carry pump don't panic--what are the odds?

Run flats are crap, seriously. Get MSSP's a nail fixer kit and a slime kit and call it a day.

Run flats have no 1st gear traction IMO.

Have them too. Really like them. Be careful in the cold, they break loose, where when warm they stick.
Airing them up first time is a process on cup wheels. Use a tire facility that has mounted them previously, this exact tire!

Here we go

To those that are posting about getting rid of runflat tires PLEASE DONT

The question the OP asked about was what are the opinions on Michelin RUNFLATS .....from people that are actually running them ......

OP , I have them and i have 15,000 miles on them , they are 1,000 times better in every way than the orginal goodyear RF tires . They handle well (now they are a summer tire so keep that in mind) they are not that noisy and I like the security of knowing I am not going to get stuck by the side of the road ...

Default Agree!

I had Michelin runflats on my 2008 and they were wonderful compared to the Goodyear OEM crap. Put over 15,000 on them before I sold her and you could not see any wear. Go for them.
