2 post lifts? What are you using?
Whats everyone using for 2 post lifts. I'm ready to order one and just want to be sure I don't over look any options.
I have 12'3" of height. I will use it for other cars and trucks as well but really don't want to have to block the car up to get it on the lift.
Post a pick with the car on it if you can.

I know when (and if) I ever get one it will be the type that leaves all 4 wheels dangling so you can remove them. I'm sure the ones that you drive onto have their place, storage and some work underneath....etc, but to me if you have a lift that you still have to jack the tire/wheel up on the lift to remove it then it's kinda...well....you now......good luck....

I'll be getting one, just haven't decided on a two post or four post. I do like that it is easier to use a 4 post, drive up and push a button. Great if you have another car to park underneath.
Two posts seem to be better for taking off wheels and suspension work. I'm curious about both. With the two posts are they mounted securely to the ground? I have 12 foot ceilings so that shouldn't be an issue and a dedicated outlet but I think it is 110.

If you just want to work on your car then get a 2 post. If you want to store 2 cars then get a 4 post. You can get 4 posts that work on 110 or 220, its an option on some lifts. Also on the 4 post lifts you can get an air jack that hooks onto each drive up ramp and can be pushed the entire length of the ramps for positioning. The lift manufacturers will have the layout dimensions on their websites so take some time and lay it out in your garage first. Also get the measurements of your cars and punch them into the calculators or if you are having it installled and are not sure 2 cars will fit then have the installer stop by to make sure, you will most likely pay a fee for it but if its close then no need to take chances.

I purchased a 2 post 9000 direct lift 220v. After a year or so I realized hanging the wheel down was not what a good thing. Sold the 2 post and purchased 2 - 4 post 9000 lifts. The trick is to buy ramp jacks to lift the car to remove wheels. Bought 4 ramp jacks. 4 race craft ramps. Now I have the best of all!! That's the only way to go. All 2 post purchase will realize the mistake. They work in garage setting but not in novice garage. Hope this helps!!!

I have 2 post Bendpak XPR-10, no problems in 4 years. Easy install and does all I need plus I can put a full size SUV on it. I do not use it for storage though, you would want a 4 post for that. I think this lift needs minimum 12' ceiling, you can check on their website.

I was wondering about that factor also. I'm guessing most people think that all the weight of a vehicle on the lift is being transferd straight down on the post. When in reality there is quite a bit of leverage on the legs involved that will put a lot of force trying to pull the post towards the inside of the lift area. Thats an awful lot of force for a few bolts in the concrete to carry.

I considered 2 post vs. 4 post and got this company's 4 post. I park another car under, so the 4 post is more convenient for that purpose. Doing wheel work, though, is less convenient on a 4 post. Mine has a rolling jack tray and with a Harbor Freight 12 ton pneumatic jack I can lift the front of rear of most vehicles and then adjust the entire lift to a comfortable working height. This company's 2 posts are a little pricey, but I am impressed with the quality of my lift.
