Would insurance for a Corvette be cheaper if I join the military

Would insurance for a Corvette be cheaper if I join the military
I'm looking into joining the Army or Navy Reserves when I finish school which would be in a couple years. And I still want to eventually buy a Corvette c6. Do Veterans and military people get good discounts on Corvettes?.

USAA insurance has some of the best rates in the country and you must be active or retired military or family to join. So it's conceivable that you could save money with them over what you'd pay at State Farm for example.

Slightly off topic, but USAA also has a car buying service, which may be worth looking into.
Some dealers offer a military discount, as well. I think GM has offered a military discount in the past, but don't know if they still do.

With some insurance companies, if you are an officer in the service you use to be able to get a discount. Not sure if they do this anymore, they might get sued by some dumbass for discrimination or something.

It's been 21 years since that was a thing. ;-P

They also don't cover boats, RVs, motorcycles....

I've never been asked by any insurance company if I was in the military when getting a quote. USAAs rates are no better than any other insurance company in my opinion. I've never been quoted a competitive rate by them. I usually laugh at their advertisements.

I don't really know what insurance cost at other companies any more, I have been with USAA for over 10 years, but my 6 month policy for my 2006 vert with full coverage is $227. 54yo, no tickets, 19 yo living in the home.

I just looked at all the threads you have started. Are you 15?

Sure they can save you some money on insurance. It is called you are deployed fighting a war so they let you store your car for 6-12 months at a very reduced rate (comp coverage only).
Seriously though, military is a good deal. Free medical so you save a lot there, decent pay and they pay 100% tuition assistance right now. Need to have a lot of self discipline though because it is not like you can just not show up to work the next day.

I inherited USAA and still laugh when I get people trying to sell me on their other insurance...
"Hello, sir! We are convinced that we can get you a better rate on your insurance! Who is your current provider?"
"USAA."
"... oh. Have a good day, sir!"
USAA has been great for me for insurance, and a multitude of other services as well. I cannot recommend them enough.
But as far as getting any kind of discount on Corvettes themselves, I have no idea.

With a sports car, it is all about age and marital status. So, if your C6 is less than your Mustang's premium, that is partly explained by the fact that you are older now
Not surprising that someone found USAA's rates to be higher than Progressive or Geico. I had Progressive quote my insurance years ago and they were double the amount I was paying. I asked if their quote was for a year, rather than 6 months, which would explain the difference, but it was not.

2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified
Some of the threads that the OP has started in the past >
How much does it cost to fill up a Corvette c6's gas tank?
Would it be possible to test drive a Corvette at a dealership without buying it yet?
How many miles are Corvette c6s good for?
Could I rent a Corvette C7, and how much would it cost per day?
Are Corvette c6s better cars than Ferraris and Lamborghinis

I think you might be close to his age question.

To the OP - no, you won't get a better deal on insurance just because you're in the military even with access to USAA.
28 years on active duty and still in and had USAA insurance for about 26 of those years. Every year they kept raising my rates for no apparent reason so I did some price comparison and USAA was twice the price of GEICO (same coverage and deductible) and about 25% higher than just about every other insurance company I shopped. Called USAA and they couldn't explain why they were charging me so much than their competitors. Granted, USAA's service is typically excellent, but for the number of times I've had to actually use my insurance (twice in 34 years) I can't justify the additional cost.
Needless to say I no longer trust USAA to give me the best price and I switched insurers. I plan to continue to price shop every few years.
And BTW OP - If insurance rates is one of your decision factors for joining the military, I recommend considering a different career path. Military service shouldn't be about compensation, but about duty and commitment to service. I've known many people who joined for the wrong reasons and not only did they fail to live up to their commitment and typically find themselves getting in trouble, but they end up costing themselves and those around them much more in the end.

Gotta love this kid's MO. Light the wick with an inane question, run away and never reply to the thread, watch everyone try to straighten him out. Then repeat, and repeat, and repeat.
