C6 4LT leather dash issues/repair failure
I was wondering if anyone else has made an attempt to repair their leather dash on their 4LT corvette.
What it is doing is bubbling and separating in the heat.
I went through my dealership and paid for a repair which involved a reglue of the dash.
The problem has returned and I just wanted to see if anyone successfully repaired theirs.
thank you.

I'm sorry to hear about your issue. It seems the more bells and whistles the more things can and do go wrong.

ge1040 .....
And to add insult to injury, it seems the only C6 dash to have this debonding problem is the 4LT dash.
Seems the 1LT, 2LT and 3LT are not effected.

It has been mentioned before that the reason this is happening is due to some un-named federal agency claiming the glue used in the past is no longer environmentally friendly......so they forced car companies to use a glue that is ineffective. Your government protecting you.....say thanks.

As I recall, starting in '08 when 4LT came out, there were claims being made and dealers were replacing, not fixing the pads. I don't know if any of those replaced have had the problem again. Probably not to the original owner but that may be because some/many owners don't own the car for ten or more years. I'd say the only way to fix it is to take it out either by an auto upholstery shop or DIY and take it to an auto upholstery shop.
Sidenote: haven't seen/read of many C7s having delamination issues. Yet.

Thanks for the heads up I will check my 4lt interior. You did not say where you live or if your car sits out side in the summer heat. I can see summer heat degrading any interior if the car sits out for extended periods. My car is usually in the garage when not on the road and I have had no such issues. Good luck getting the issue resolved.

You could be right, Dave. Hard to believe it's going on into two generations of the car's dash.

Where did you come up with this one???? Contact Cement has been used for decades for bonding disimilar materials with great results and it has not been banned by any unnamed federal agengy.
The only adhesive banned are those containing asbestos (1986), and that is banned worldwide in any civilized nation companies due to health risks (asbestosis, etc.) and of course litigation law suits.
GM likely used a cheaper water based adhesive instead of the good stuff.

Anyone know a news reporter that would want to do a story on the quality and craftsmanship of a 64,000 dollar 4LT 2010 Corvette. The car has 26,000 miles on it and was purchased in 2012 as a new never titled car. They did the repair and the first time i saw it I asked about the bubbles in it, Service manager stated it would reglue it self in the sun. Needles to say it never did and continues to get worse. Chevrolet spends millions of dollars to repair the Corvettes that were in the bottom of a sink hole, but a customers car they want to charge me 3000 dollars for the repair of a defective dash???????????????

If you go the the ZR1 Z06 threads there are currently several threads and many threads on this issue in the past. The glue issue is legit, Chevrolet does not make the dashes. Many high dollar cars had the same issue. The windshield DOES NOT have to come out. Mine was replaced with a customer satisfaction deal and cost me $500. I was very fortunate.
