Sounds like the Upper Respiratory Flu , which is terrible this year, Valley Fever is more extreme fatigue & night sweats, glad to hear you're starting to feel slightly better

Nice driveway and sidewalk. Sorry to hear that you've been ill, hoping you've turned the corner and will be feeling great again.

Default Cost?

Love that paver look! Can anyone "in the building/construction" industry provide a rough "per sq ft (or yrd)" cost for work like what is shown in the OP? (Either w/ or w/o demo of existing concrete driveway & walkway.)

If you have a concrete driveway that is flat and in good shape, you may be able to find a contractor that will lay thin cement pavers (1" thick) right over the exsisting driveway. Each paver needs to be secured to the concrete with thinset mortar. Here is what I paid here in Florida (your state may be more expensive).

Thin Cement Pavers and Thinset Mortar: $2.15 per Sq. Ft.
Labor to Install the Pavers: $1.50 per Sq. Ft.

Total Cost: $3.65 per Sq. Ft.
_______________________________

Many contractors will tell you that the only way they will guarantee a job like this is the remove the exsisting driveway and lay sand down for the pavers to lay on ... They are worried about the pavers cracking if set over a concrete driveway.

Of course, removing and hauling away your old driveway adds greatly to the cost.

I don't know what the cost is for this type of installation.

The OP would know, since that is how they did his paver job.

BTW .... My pavers have been down now for 1 1/2 years, and I don't have cracked pavers (but that's just my driveway).

It might not just be the SW, I have had the same thing since the middle of last week. I might finally go back to work tomorrow night.

BTW ... I had porcelain tile layed on my concrete slab garage floor about 4 years ago.

Not one of these tiles have ever cracked ....Of course, pocelain tile is much harder than ceramic tile.

Thought about doing that also Ron but was warned off because of the cracking possibility What about the expansion joints ??

My drive was right at 1000 Sq Ft and removal ranged for $2200 down to $1200, guess what which one I choose
Paver job was at $6.00 SQ FT, (1332 sq ft) they used the 1" overlay on the walk way and sand bed for the driveway pavers at 2.5". Locked in with polymeric sand which they say is the only way to go. I also had black plastic spread under the sand because we have a phosphorus or calcium seep thru problem out here that turns fuzzy white and looks terrible, one of the reasons I did it.

Well, not one crack in 4 1/2 years.

The porcelain tile was layed right over the exsisting expansion joints without a problem.

No expansion joints made in the tile ... But, they have about a 1/8" gap all around where the tile would meet the walls. That's for expansion.

You don't see this gap because after the project was done, I bought rolls of that flexable vinyl baseboard and glued it down on the bottom of the walls ... You can see it on the bottom of the wall in front of the car.

Again ... Not one crack or broken tile in 4 1/2 years.

I would not recommend this, but take a look at our garage / driveway I had in the Philippines when we lived there. (actually you would call this a 'carport' .. they don't have garages in the Philippines).

When I had the house built, they layed ceramic tile on the carport / driveway, right over poured concrete.

Suprisingly, not one of those tiles cracked in the 3 years we lived in this house.

I've had a severe coughing issue for 5 months. Dr's treated for pneumonia, valley fever, allergies, and few other things with no positive results. Last week a coughing episode hit me so hard I passed out and nose dived on the tile floor. Three hours, some X-rays, a CT scan, and 7 stitches later I got home. Another CT scan today, PCP on Wednesday, and pulmonologist next week.
I hope whatever you have is not what I have. Hang tough Bobby.

Bobby .... I feel for you. I really do.

When I lived in the Philippines, I was hospitalized with Typhoid Fever. I don't have a clue as to how I got it. On and off fevers reaching 105 degrees ... I thought I was going to die.

Well ... I pulled through

Hang in there ... You will be ok real soon

Not me, but my wife got it in October here in SW PA. Dr. treated her for strep throat with antibiotics, but she kept getting worse. Back to the dr. after 10 days, different dr., and he didn't understand why she was being treated for strep. Took a chest xray, and put her on steroids and an inhaler, and some "magic" mouth wash. The coughing and crap lasted till the middle of December. It's nothing to mess with for sure. Whoever develops those flu shots needs to get their act together. We both had our shots in September, and who knows if maybe she hadn't had it, it could have been much worse. But the shots were a fail this year.
Hope you all feel better. Still a long way to go till Spring.

The numbers you guys are posting is dirt cheap. I got several quotes to install a curved brick paver walkway about 80'X4' on Cape Cod and the best price was $6400. or about $20/sg'. There was no existing walk to remove.

Best to you, Hox. Gotta be careful with this crap as we get older, it can get dangerous.
