Default Another VY Paint Color Question??

My 08 VY (Velocity Yellow) Vette is "recovering" from it's minor rear end collision. The new rear bumper has been painted by a great paint shop at my Chevrolet dealer with PPG paint as specified by PPG. The paint job is very good....it looks great! But the color is just slightly off because PPG does not have a VY "tinted clear" as used in the factory when this car was built. I have met with the local PPG representative and the lack of a Repair Paint with a tinted clear coat appears to be real.....at least with PPG.
Can anyone 1) confirm that this is true?, and 2) does anyone know of any paint supplier that offers a tinted clear coat color for this car?
I need to know that this is the best that can be done for me to put this to bed in my mind.......
Thanks for any help or insight you can share on this.
Jim

Your Chevy dealer isn't able to order the correct clear coat?

I can shoot a car and make it look good and shine, but you are paying for a color match too and if they can't do that then it's not much of a shop. Don't sign any paperwork till it's done right. Insurance company just trying to cheap out.

Burke Corvettes in Maitland (Orlando) shot my 08 10 years ago using PPG Tri-Stage. No problem getting materials needed. He shot the removable panels separately and matched perfectly both in color and factory orange peel.

Check your orange peel as well and make sure it's the same as the quarters. If not that could be the difference you are seeing as well.

What I am hearing is that 10 years ago the paints were all solvent based; at the factory and for repairs. Now the factory is all water based and the repair paints are both water based ( color coat ) and solvent based ( clear coat ) . This means that the paints that were used 10 years ago are no longer available.....basically, you can't buy the paint that was used to paint the car when it was new.

I'll ask my local painter. I had my hood (rock chips) and truck deck repainted and would have swore he used PPG 3 stage.

Be aware that VY is the hardest color to paint of the C6 colors.
