Default Fuel Tank Cap Replacement

I'm looking at a 2013 3LT .... I got the service history from Chevy and I wanted to know why a fuel cap would need to be replaced twice at 7200 miles and 19000 miles? I can't "smell" it for a gas tank leak because the car is 500 miles away. The car now has 30000 miles and while I'm asking, why would you have the front floor panel carpet replaced? Leak from the top?

Thanks to everyone here for helping!

Michael

There was a problem with C6 gas caps. Mine (2005) was replaced once. I got a letter the same day my cap broke. They are a little 'tricky' sometimes. Some on here have gone with a Stant that doesn't cost a lot but mine has been OK since it was replaced. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

I can already see people posting to run away from this car because their minds get very creative with reasons to replace the carpet.

My simple answer is if there was a water leak repaired under warranty there would have been at least a seal, if not top or windshield replacement also in VIS. My guess would be the owner was a typical corvette nut and wanted it replaced because there was a color issue, or it wasn't staying attached to the floor, or wearing excessively, etc.

I think there was a problem with the rug being cut short on the width.
After a little while, the rug would pull away from under the console and or from the door sill plate.

there was a carpet fit issue as mentioned above......

the front carpets on both sides of mine were replaced under warranty before I purchased mine............... and mine originally was a GM executive car.........

Heat from the tunnel will also cause it to shrink. My friend has that problem on his 2013.
