Default The nice people of the USPS1

They delivered this today! I hope to never have to seriously use this device on my car. I see it as an almost must have when owning the newer GM cars, if you do your own maintenance. I hate to Take any of my cars to a mechanic. A lot larger than I thought it would be.

Good price !

A fully loaded authentic GM Tech II (commercial version) with all the current software cost more than $3000

If or when it happens,

Hence I pulled my Tech II clone apart when I first got it to clean up/ double check the solder joints for any cold solder joints to begin with, and since it only a mater of time, ended up buying a DC to DC converter to have on hand when my cloned converter decides to go south and needs to be replaced with a none cloned converter instead.

As for the clone tech II, verses the VZ GM Nano (own both now), still prefer the tech II over the using the Nano (whole having to man handle a lap top while behind the wheel thing).

The only saving grace with the gm nano, its a clone MDI, and comes with GDS2 software (as well as Tech2win needed for the c6 vets), so works with later model cars, including the C7 vets.

The down side on the GM nano, does not come with a cracked copy of Tis2000, but not hard to add that in if needed.

I checked it out, and the newer GM cars, no longer use Tech2 diagnostics. I think 2013 is the last year Tech 2 was used.

Yea, prices are all over the place on them, and constantly changing. I went with Amazon for other reasons. Ease of return, and site security. I would only do it by using a one time use credit card with a China site. The one I bought went up 40.00 yesterday? Amazon quit selling them because they were clones over a year ago. They had better prices on them back then too.

If you had to return it you probably would have discovered when Amazon uses certain Chinese partners, they will not refund; instead, will make you deal directly with the supplier. I had that happen recently on another item purchased through Amazon but directly from the supplier.

Funny thing on security. The only times I've had CC ID stolen - once with Home Depot when hundreds of thousands of CCs were hacked from their site, and mine was one; a second time when my wife used her CC at Target. There too, over a million CCs hacked from their system.

Luckily, and in any case, our CC suppliers are on top of it and change card numbers and remove any unauthorized charges immediately. I've had no issues the few times I've purchased from sites such as Aliexpress. In fact, before I placed the order, my CC supplier pinged me and I had to authorize the payment directly with them before they allowed payment to the vendor.

Nonetheless, $254 or $349 beats $3000.

I have had my cards hacked several times, mostly at restaurants. No money lost, just aggravating and embarrassing when your next purchase is denied. Never had any trouble returning anything from Amazon. There is always a first! Hopefully there will be no problem. The device works, and everything came as advertised. I hope I never have to use it on my 07!

Encourage you to use it, not wait for a problem. Tech 2s aren't necessarily intuitive. Without any practice hooking it up/using it, drilling through various layers of SW to arrive at the core issue, when the time comes, it can be very frustrating.

Thanks, I will use it, and learn about the scanner. A few members have started threads on how to use it too. I save them as I run across them.

The tech 2 with tech2000 support was phased out by 2014, with mdi/mdi2 used running GSD2 software instead.

In regards to the Vet, all the C6 vets used the tech2 , with tech2000 software (SDS is a part of the tech200 software).

The link below has a good chart of what models/which years the turn overs took place on what tool to use.

http://www.genuinegmparts.com/pdf/po...-reference.pdf

So her is the glitch between the Tech II and the VX gm nano, since the nano is a MDI clone that comes with cloned GDS2 and tech2win software, it works for both older cars that need to to use tech2win/tis2000, and newer cars that use GDS2 instead.

The downside to the nano, is it does not come with Tis2000 software if you need the SDS portion of that software to re-flash a module, but it can be added to the VX Gm Nano if needed.
