Default When Does The Hurting Stop ?

Im talking about my wallet.
Quick back story: A few years back i bought a used 08 C6 to hold me over till i could build the C3 i wanted. I determined the time and money to build the C3 at my liking would be way more than i could dedicate to it currently.
Well ever since i brought home this other thing I cant stop modding it. Today being no exception, I decided that the perfectly good LG exhaust had to go. A new Corsa is on the way. My question is how long did it take you all to catch this bug and how severe can this get? The mod bug of mine is bad bad and not getting better.

The hurting stops after you blow it up, then it starts over with your replacement toy.

Took me 6 years to get it where I wanted. The next 4 were spent enjoying it and doing maintenance.

Being that the vet should just be another toy in the toy box to start with, there should be no hurting when all you are doing is spending your excess unneeded toy box fun money on it to start with.

It's all relative, and a function of what it takes to keep you entertained.

For me it took about 2 years to become completely and utterly bored with it. Then I couldn't dump it fast enough...which took forever....

I'm getting there. Also when you realize that all the aftermarket mods do is create a money pit to keep the car going. And that all the $ poured into the car is not really going to make the car worth any more $ and probably less.

I promised myself that I would not "mod' this vette like I did other vehicles and the mods ended up just being a total waste of money when trying to sell.
No real mods on this vette. I've learned my lesson.

Cheaper hobbies are a far easier pill to swallow.

For reliability and comfort, I keep it OEM.

I am thinking about Bilstein shocks however.

If you havent already screwed the pooch and modded your car to where it isn’t dependable without a traveling toolbox take a multi week, multi state road trip and ENJOY your car. The money spent on the road trip doesn’t hurt. It gives great pleasure.

Been there, done that, with a 72. From that experience I knew it would only stop if I got rid of it. And I did, trade it for another family vehicle. Good luck, these decisions are never easy.

I'm looking for something that someone has designed better than the engineers at Chevrolet. Haven't found it yet. It is a 2012 GS 4LT. It came with chrome wheels, yellow calipers, yellow stitching. The previous owner added a Billy Boat Fusion exhaust, front splitter, side skirts, curb sensor and backup camera. I know many of you spend a lot of money and time "making it your own." The only things I'm adding are items that protect the OEM - floor mats, slip on seat covers, a leather steering wheel wrap. It's yours, do what you'd like. I'm keeping mine pretty much stock.

I switched from a '98 Z28 to my '09 vette last January.
the Z was my dad's that he bought new. I'm guessing that from day 1 until he passed away in 2013, he paid for that car about 2 - 3 times.
3 engines, suspension, trans upgrade, roll bar, nitrous. it was his DD, but his 1/4 mile times slips stacked about 3" tall ( best: 11.92 @ 121mph ).
but looking through the receipts was scary. all of the repairs & upgrades! ouch! I had the car for about 4 years and put another $10k-$12k into it ( mainly from switching from A4 - M6 ). it got to be a bit of a whack-a-mole, when I decided to sell it.
I told myself on the 'vette, that I would keep it stock. so far so good.
if & when I need to replace or repair anything major, then I'll probably start back down the path of upgrades.
until then, I'm good with enjoying it as is!

Ditto, I'm at the point to go all out or look for a new C7. You never get back what you put into it. Unless your a drive it into the ground type, then you don't mind dumping loads of cash into your toy.
