Grundy or Hagerty
I only put on a couple of thousand miles per year ( if that mostly going to car shows ) and was thinking to insure my Vette thru Hagerty or Grundy. My current insurance is $960 per year for the Vette. ( Hartford Ins ) Any pros or Cons with these companies ? Thank You

I currently have a Hagerty policy since they insured our collectors edition low mileage garage queen 2007 Pace Car for its full appraised value which is about 30% above its book value as a 3LT Z51 Corvette of the same year and mileage. I found the policy too restrictive since I put more than 2,000 miles on it last year. I will not be renewing the Hagerty policy and will be going to a standard policy so that I can get more use out of the car.

Fire, theft and collision? Are you using the car for shows only? The pricing must vary from each city and state.

I dug out the paperwork, $335 a year, $500 deductible, comes with 50 miles free towing road side assistants, I set the value at 18k, paid 16k for it but probably could get 20knor a bit more. They require pics of the car to verify approximate value. I don't do shows!! Cruise nights but mainly like to drive it hard! I do have a classic insured with them also so that gives a multi car discount. Give them a call..

Thank you I will. My daily driver will not be insured by Hagerty.

I have 10 cars. 2 daily drivers. 7 antique/classics and the 2012 GS I just bought. My daily drivers are insured with "the good hands" people. All the others are insured with Hagerty's. When I bought the Vette I checked with both companies. Allstate was $705 every 6 months at their book value (they wouldn't say what that value was.) Hagerty's was $695 for the entire year at my stated value which I put at $40,000. That is with ZERO deductible. I have no mileage limit. They ask what you think you might drive per year. If you find you're driving more than you thought you simply call and tell them the new mileage estimate. Some things you should know. 1 - You must have a "driver" for every licensed driver in the household insured by someone else. 2 - The car must be for "pleasure only." Pleasure is wide open. You can go to dinner. You can go on vacation, etc., etc. You CAN NOT drive it to work everyday. You CAN NOT use it for business, etc. 3 - You must store it inside (this varies by state.) In my case I keep my classics and the Vette in a rental warehouse 2 miles from my house. If I take the wife to dinner and get back late I can leave the car in the driveway overnight. I just can't store it there. I've had Hagerty's since 2010. I filed one claim. They were excellent. I'm in S. Florida. This past year when Hurricane Irma came through we elected to go spend a week with my brother in Georgia. I called Hagerty's. They assured me that if Irma blew the entire warehouse away and destroyed all the cars they would be covered at 100% of the insured value. Insurance on my two daily drivers - an '02 Silverado and an '02 Trans Am - is more than all eight classics. Something else to know - if you total the car they pay you the full insured value AND YOU KEEP THE CAR. If you have special options or equipment you can take them off and put them on your replacement vehicle. If this sounds like a commercial it's really not but I do like Hagerty's. There are others too - J.C. Taylor, Grundy. Good luck.

Call them. They'd love to have your business. Ask them all the questions especially about restrictions and mileage limits. I'm sure they'll confirm what I told you.

Thank you. Yeah, it got a lot of attention. There were dozens of Vettes there from all generations - C1 to C7. It's amazing how when you love your car you see other very nice cars and say to yourself, "that's nice, but I wouldn't trade mine for it." That's how I felt yesterday.

There's something wrong with that number. You need to call Hagerty's back. I have eight vehicles with a total insurance value of $316,000 and an annual premium of $2,618 which includes roadside assistance and towing. Some have $500 deductible others including the Vette are $0 deductible.

I am glad you have got a good deal with Hagerty on your insurance but I crossed that bridge already. When she gave me the quote she had the same info as the others and could not explain the much higher premium. At the moment I am with Am. Coll. but had just added another car that is for sale after sale will switch to Grundy.BTW had a claim with A.C. and they were great to deal with.
