Default Looking for replacement air dam

I have done a search and came up with RPI site. He states that GM has discontinued making the C6 air dam. They offer oem replacement regarding fit and materials. Yet one member posted that he thought RPI replacement was to brittle and not flexible enough.

I see on some other sites people complain that the dam is to soft.

What do I do to get a satisfactory replacement.

I know Cultrag offers them but not sure who makes them and shipping is expensive.

Can a original be gotten?

Or if anyone has a more definitive answer please chime in.

I also noticed at some sites the replacement is expensive.

Here is the one I bought last year when I had a bad tear in the center section due to getting caught on a piece of re-bar sticking up from a speed bump. It was a good fit and identical to the factory air dam. The outer sections did seem to be a bit more flexible than what I took off but maybe they were harder due to age.

the one's from Gene or Patrick at Cultrag come as individual pieces, so you can just order which parts actually require replacement, provided you are taking about the air dam under the front of the vehicle............... center section is more of a rubber type material and may not actually need replacing............

From what I understand, CCA has the mold for the air dam. I ordered mine from a different vendor, and it has CCA's product stamp on it. I'm pretty sure every vendor is going to get them from the same source. Just look for the lowest price, then go with that.

Interesting and what I was leaning too. The different sites seem to have the same product descriptions.

Ya I am going to replace all three sections cause right now I have them tie strapped together. Not sure what I need in the way of hardware.

It weems my outside section have the worst wear, especially the passenger side due to how I back out of my driveway. Our street is significantly crownes.

So a vendor says Performance Choice is the manufacture and here is what concerns me:

Please Note: The side sections are made of rigid plastic and offers very little flexibility. The stock spoiler for some years of the C6 offers a side section spoiler that are flexible. At this time we believe this is the only aftermarket option out there.

So I am still digging for the best Air Dam set up.

As some folks here have done ... they just removed the air dam altogether.

Nobody has reported an increase in engine coolant temps after removing it.

Up to you

Ya been looking into this also over the years.

No high speed driving anymore, although on trips I have been known to boogie some. Especially in the desert 100 mph plus for some time. But doubt anymore desert trips for the future.

I am not definitively convinced as to the dam not being needed.

Can you list some threads, maybe I missed a few.

Actual wind testing.

I read this as a go to remove for a street car with overall down force increase but a bit lost in the rear.

Sounds like 3 digit speed effects.

Thinking now of just removing the air dam, maybe leaving the center piece on.

I have had my two sides off since I bought the car two years ago. No change in temperature at all, even in 100degree days. My driveway always scraped the Right one anyway, so even a new one would be shredded by now.

Ok pulled the trigger from Indy Motorwerks, with the installation kit $113 free shipping no tax.

I am not sure of the condition of my hardware. I have a few tie straps I had to use to keep it together.

Some air dams do not offer the installation material.

Just gotta tired of looking, I guess it will be what it is.

Let us know if it has the CCA product stamp on it once you get it. I'm curious to see if they have the sole mold for these.

The stamp on all three parts say Mid America Motorworks! It is part of the mold process.

Looks if CCA doesn't have the sole license.

Hard to compare to existing oem air dam because it is still on the car but this replacement feels like cheap thin plastic.

I am not impressed but it just might be what is available now.

I have seen reproductions from a Corvette parts vendor, I just can't remember who. Check with Zip Products and Corvette Central.

I am returning the air dam. Just will not hold up, thin and stiff plastic.

Next going to try RPI's air dam. They state that it is made to oem specs regarding materials etc.

Boomer: I posted on the old tread that you found and as of today my 08 with 79,000 miles does not get over 205 degrees in the temps here in South Tx in traffic...The shop that put in the cam and headers also commanded my fan to come on at a lower temperature.Where you live it never gets above 100 degrees and cool at night.....I lived up in your area for many years....Loved the weather but not the price......
